Chapter 3

Zoe's POV
It was the night before the party and I could still hear Joe messing around in the room next door. I was super excited see to all my friends and family again but mostly Alfie!
At around 11 I could still hear Joe and decided to go and talk to him. There was probably a lot on his mind.

"Joe?" I said as I walked into the room. He had several outfits sprawled across his bed.

"What do you want Zoe? I'm busy" he asked barely even looking at me.

"Look I know you like her but this really isn't a big deal, it's just a little get together" I paused. "Wait, didn't you buy an outfit yesterday with Caspar?"

"I did but I don't think she'll like it" he said doubtfully. It was obvious that he was in love with this girl that he'd know for a few days.

"Look, if you want me to talk to her" Joe gazed at me hopefully.

"Would you? It would mean the world to me, just don't tell her I told you too and that I have a girlfriend,to make her jealous. Wait no! Just say..."

And with that I walked away. I already knew what I was going to say.

Lottie's POV
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. It was Zoe.
"Just checking that you were still coming today" She sounded as if she'd been up for hours.

"Of course I am. Is there anything I can help with because I'm only next door?"

"Well I'm just about to pop out to waitrose and get some food, if you wanna come I'd be glad of the company and anyway it takes me ages just to find the way into the car park, you'd be some much help"

I agreed to meet her in 10 minutes and hung up. After staring blankly at my ceiling for anyone 2 minutes I decided to get up and get dressed. There was no time to wash so I just threw some white jeans and a polo shirt on and grabbed everything that I needed.

At exactly 10 o'clock she arrived at my door. Her make up was uneven and she had massive bags under her eyes.

"Are you ok?" I asked " do you want me to drive?"

"No it's fine" she stuttered as we walked over to her car. It only made me worry more but I kept out of it. Secretly I had been so excited to have a day out with Zoe. She was such a sweet person and I didn't have that many friends.

As I sat down in her car I heard a noise coming from the back seat. It was Joe.

"What are you doing here?" Zoe asked.

"I thought it would be good to spend some time with you. I didn't realise that you were coming too Lottie." His face turned softer as he turned to face me. "You want me to come don't you?"

I didn't know what to say. The two of them glared at me. " I w-well I'm not too sure." I was excited for a girly day out but I also wanted to spend some time with Joe.

Zoe's POV
It was obvious what Joe was doing but couldn't he just leave it? I was gonna talk to her today ALONE. Not with him there.

"Just go away Joe" I hated being so mean but he'd never know if I didn't speak to her first.
He left the car in a sulk. He'd be happier later though. Wouldn't he?

As me and Lottie drove down the street things began to become awkward, I thought I'd ask her there and then.

"So what do you think of Joe?" I asked.
"Yeah he's nice I guess" she answered quietly.

"Are you seeing anyone at the moment?"
"No I was always a bit of a loser at school. You know, the girl who would just sit at the back of the classroom and just shrug when she was asked a question" Then she said it. "Is um Joe seeing anyone right now?"

I was finally getting somewhere. "That's actually what I wanted to talk about" she turned to me in hope. "I know how it feels to be in your situation so I'll just tell you straight. Joe has a massive crush on you."

Her eyes lit up as she tried to hide her happiness. "Well I'm not gonna lie to you, I sorta have one on him too" This was going to be easier than I thought."Then your perfect for each other."It was going to be a match made in heaven.
