The way you look at me stops me from breathing.

Like I light up your world,

like I’m perfect when I know I’m not,

like I’m beautiful,

like I’m the only thing holding you to this earth.

But you don’t say it with words; there’s no need

Your actions and eyes say all

The way you look at me stops me from screaming.

Frustration is what you take away,

You brighten my day,

not the other way around.

But I don’t say Thanks with words,

only my eyes.

Not the other way around.

The way you look at me says it all:

As if I could help you.

As if I could make anything better.

As if I could change what I feel.

As if I could stop loving you.

As if I could leave you.

Because to leave you would be to kill you,

And to kill you would be to kill me.

Not the other way around.

As if I could be without you,

could sleep without you.

I’d reply.

But there had been no words;

only silence.

But there had been no confession

to love.

Because the words were never spoken,

Just thought.

Not the other way around.
