Chapter 4 Big surprise

"Alex..." that's new, nowadays, he calls me by my full name most of the time, unless he has something big to say. It's always Alexander.

"This is James, he is my true mate."

I'm not surprised, gay couples are common, but really?!

"Oh you've got to be kidding me! A new house and now a new dad?! I need to let my brain process this, I'm going to my room." the puppies jumped off my lap as I stood up and followed me to my room. dad didn't say if they had names yet so I guess I'm going to have to come up with something. Walking into my room I let my pups in then closed the door and sat on the bed.

I knew my parent's weren't true mates. My dad had explained it to me last year when I turned 15, the age you could find a true mate. My mom found her true mate just after her 15th birthday but before she could complete the mating process because her mate died in a car crash. Dad told me she was devastated and she never really got over the loss of her mate. my mom met my father when they were both 20 and fell in love, dad still hadn't found his mate and he was almost positive he wasn't going to, so they got married and had me a year later. My parents were happily married until my mother's death. Now here is my dad eight years after her passing he has finally found his true mate, yet, here I am , 16 no mother, two fathers and I haven't found my mate.

A knock on the door brought me out of my thoughts. without waiting for an answer, James poked his head through the crack in the now open door.


"Hello Alexander, could you come join you father and I in the living room for a little chat before we go out for dinner?"

James was the more feminine version of gay, now that I wasn't focused on the puppies that had been wiggling on my father's lap, I got a better look at this new mate of my dad's. he really wasn't what what i would expect. his voice was high, he wore a neon pink t-shirt that said 'I LOVE MY SEME,'neon green skinny jeans and bright orange vans. He looked to be around 26. He had deep brown eyes, dark chocolate colored hair cut short, high cheekbones and thick lashes any girl would kill for. All in all he was pretty cute for a twenty-six year old guy, and as much as i hate to admit it he seems perfect for my dad.

James left my room and I followed shortly after walking into the living room. My dad was still sitting on the couch but his posture had changed, he had his head in his hands like he was upset, when he noticed me he straightened up and stood.

"Get your coat we're go to dinner with the alpha and his family now." he said starting to walk out the door throwing a "And make sure to lock the door," at me.

I didn't say anything I just exited the house and locked it without grabbing my jacket, then headed to the car.

We drove into town and went to a little chinese restaurant called the Double Dragon. It was small and definitely family owned, there were two large windows in the front of the restaurant with a green awning above them to keep the rain from running down the windows, to the right of the windows was the entrance.

We walked in and were greeted by a small chinese woman, dad told her who we were meeting and instead of seating us in the main area to the right, she took us forward and to the left, which lead us into a small area, where the alpha and his family were already seated.

I noticed a certain smell before, but when we walked into this room it got noticeably stronger, it was a pleasent smell, like vanilla and coffee, I couldn't figure out what it was, and it was making my wolf freak out.

"MATE!" screamed my wolf suddenly making me flinch, of course me being the only one able to hear him, my dad whispered in my ear asking what was wrong.

"My wolf is acting up, he's saying 'mate'. Does that mean they're close by or in this room?" I asked in a whisper back. I didn't look at anybody but my dad until he said yes. Both of us glanced at the Alpha, who was greeting james, and then back at each other.
"what am I supposed to do?" I asked my father, I was starting to get nervous, my mate was in the room with me, do they know they're my mate or are they not of age yet, how will they react to me, who are they?

"Just stay calm and look around casually you'll know they're your mate when you see them." he replied.

I did as he said and looked around, there were only a few people in the room, those people being the Alpha's family, obviously the alpha and luna were out of the question, they have two daughters so it had to be one of them. One in particular stood out, the girl sitting next to her mother, she had emo style black hair and snake bites, she was my mate I knew it. I nudged my father to get his attention, and pointed at the girl.

"She's my mate" I said.
