~ A few weeks later, in the squat

We were inseparable, we did everything together and we were happy. Ellen was such a wonderful girl, she was always kind, knew the solution to everything and never panicked even once. Though I dared not tell her of my past, I didn't want her to become afraid and leave me alone. I started to love her, and I think it was likewise. One night, I woke up to find her lying against me, curled up and sleeping soundly, like she had no worry in the world. I smiled and went back to sleep myself. In the morning I woke up early and I wanted to surprise Ellen, so I took my jacket and went outside. I began searching for something to eat, and I my heart leaped of joy when I found a carton of yesterdays leftovers at the bakery's garbage disposer. When I turned around I felt something crawling up my leg. At first it startled me but when I looked down I saw a cute little puppy. I sat down on my knee and petted him on the head. "Hey boy, are you alone? You must be hungry". I took a bun out of the carton and tore a small piece off for him. He happily gobbled it up and barked to thank me. I stood up and walked back to the squat, and it started to follow me. I thought it would leave eventually but it didn't, it followed me all the way back. I guess the little guy had nobody to go back to as well, so I didn't mind. I waited for Ellen to wake up and made a little fire outside to toast the bread on. When she finally woke up she was surprised to find that I prepared breakfast in bed for her. She thanked me with a kiss on my cheek and a warm, gentle smile. Her eyes started to sparkle as soon as she saw the puppy, she took it in her arms like a little baby and hugged it. I started smiling as I understood she wanted to keep him too. "What should we name him?" I asked, -" Shadow"  she said, " because of his pitch black fur ". Shadow it was, and just when I thought things couldn't be any better, something bad happened...

" Well, well, what's this? A nice little squat you guys have here!" a unknown voice said. We looked at the entrance and we saw a big man standing in front of the door.  "Care to grab your things and fuck off?! This place looks just suited for me". He was probably the same as us, someone with no place to go, taking whatever he can to survive, although we would never do such a cruel thing. Ellen was scared, I could see that, so I calmly started to pack our things, among it was my dagger, which I quickly put in my jacket so Ellen wouldn't notice. The man suddenly came closer and hauled at Ellen and yelled - "GET OUT YOU SCUM!" Ellen dropped Shadow in her fall and the man started kicking him. Ellen started screaming. To me, that was the trigger, I took my dagger, charged at him and casually slit through the man's throat like butter. He fell down, his blood flowed out and I came to my senses. I had killed again. I looked at Ellen and to my surprise I didn't see any fear on her face, the only thing I thought to recognize was astonishment. I dropped the dagger and fell down. Ellen started to crawl towards me. "I'm a monster... Go away... I don't want to hurt you, I really dont..." I uttered in tears. I slowly felt her hands around me and I looked at her, -"you're not a monster" she said. The only thing I saw in her eyes was determination. "I could hurt you, I'm dangerous" I answered. I looked back down, I couldn't bare the shame, I did it again, and Ellen saw me doing it. As a response, she raised my chin with her hand and she kissed me. It was the happiest feeling I had ever experienced, knowing she didn't hate me, but loved me, knowing I could still be with her...
