I just arrived at school & of course I was late again since my mom had her fourth hangover this week. She has always been an alcoholic, well ever since my dad left us.
I opened the door to my second period science class and everyone turns to stare at me. My face turns bright red because over everyone, I catch him staring right at me. Brandon. Brandon is the perfect all-American guy. Blonde curly hair, blue eyes, 5'10, & has played every sport I could possibly think of. He is a god & he was staring right into my eyes.
I quickly take my seat & pull out my notes. Out of the corner of my eye, I can feel Brandon still staring. Did I have something in my hair? I brushed a hand through my ombré hair just for reassurance. Nothing. Did I smudge my makeup? I took out my pocket mirror and quickly checked. I tilted the mirror to where I had a clear view or Brandon. As soon as I saw those deep blue eyes staring back at me, I quickly closed the mirror & didn't look back the rest of class.
When the bell rang, I stayed back a few seconds to leave after Brandon did but, realized he wasn't getting up either. I finally decided to get up & leave and that's when I heard Brandon getting up too. I quickly walked out of the door headed to study hall. Thankfully, Brandon & I didn't have study hall together on Tuesdays.
I made it to the library & found my best friend, Adelene, on her laptop.
"The weirdest thing happened to me last period." I started while taking my Finals notes out
"What happened that has you so flipped out?" Adelene asked closing her laptop & pulling out her notes
"Okay so, I got here in the beginning of second period & of course I get those stares but, this time something different happened. Brandon stared." I whispered out biting my bottom lip
"God bod Brandon?!" she blurted out in pure shock
"Hell yeah. But it wasn't just like a glance, it was like a dead stare till the period was over."
"Well, you do look hotter than usual, Sam. what's the occasion." Adelene asked looking up & down at my curled hair & sleeveless demim cutoff jacket
"Nothing really. I want to go to the beach later if you can go. I just felt like making an effort to look good today."
"suurrree." she responded sarcastically "and yeah I wanted to go to the beach today to get some color on these pale legs. But wow, Brandon McCall. The Brandon that you've had an insane crush on since like 7th grade. You should feel amazing." Adelene went on.
"Yeah but I don't. I feel the opposite, like something is wrong with me & that's the only reason he's staring. Maybe I'm just paranoid because I haven't dated someone decent since like 8th grade & I don't really count that."
"Oh yeah. That long distance relationship you had with that guy you met on Facebook?" she bursts out laughing
"You know what, shut up before we get kicked out." I laughed along.
The bell rang which signaled the end of study hall. Adelene & I walked out of the library. As soon as we stepped through the doors, we both stopped in extreme surprise.
