Link walked up the steps to the deck seldomly. He let his fingers brush across the dark, damp wood of the ship as he ascended from the haul of the ship until the walls disappeared and turned into the floorboard of the top floor. Out of the small circular window on the door which lead to the deck he could see her in the distance leaning against the ships railing. Tetra.
He sighs softly. Somehow, she always knew when he was troubled, even when he tried his best to conceal his emotions. Maybe it was because that they were connected by the Triforce. Link brushed his thumb over the back of his hand, tracing the Triforce slowly, it's had become a habit of his when he was nervous. Gave him courage. He glanced out the window one more time before pushing the door open silently, stepping out into the cool, crisp night air.
He walked up to Tetra and stood next to her, leaning against the railing as well. They watched the waves together in silence for a small eternity before any of them spoke up.
Like Link, Tetra had matured as well. Her face was slim, framed by round cheek bones. Tetra's skin was a wonderful light mocha color like it had always been from being under the sun all day. Her hair had paled to a light blonde, sometimes looking white, of which she still kept in a tight ponytail. She had curves as well, not too prominent because of how lean and fit she was. They suited her well, just like the muscles in her arms. He always liked that about her. She was feminine, but she was also strong and independent. She didn't really need anyone to protect her.
They both grew and Link eventually, although inevitably, grew taller in stature than his female companion. He had teased her for it too, which she always laughed at. He was never good with insults, so it was no surprise that they wouldn't affect her.
"So." Tetra said, in a volume just loud enough to startle the blonde hero, shaking him away from his reminiscence of the past. She smirked slyly at seeing him flinch. "Link, you wuss, I thought you had the Triforce of Courage?" She said playfully, tugging on his ear a bit. Link whined softly and crossed his arms. "I wasn't expecting you to talk so soon is all." He exclaimed stubbornly, looking flustered. She laughed loudly, her oh-so contagious laugh that came from the gut, making everyone laugh with her. He pressed his lips together, trying to stay mad but he couldn't help but smile at her. She snickered slightly before giving him a comforting smile. "It was the dream again right?"
He nodded silently. She popped her hip to the side slightly, resting her hand on it as she tilted her head to the side. "Link, you defeated him. You shouldn't worry about it. Your paranoia is getting to you again. I know how you get."
And it was true. She did know. Ever since he slayed the dreadful being he always had a feeling of uneasiness. In all sincerity, he hated to kill. It was a necessity for him in its misfortune. It had given him anxiety over the years and paranoia. The thought of ending a creatures life, any creature, made his skin crawl.
He nodded at his best friend, taking her hand in his. She responded with a comforting squeeze. "I just feel like... He's going to come back..." He admitted ruefully. Tetra looked up at him and smiled, giving him a quick kiss to the cheek. "It's going to be okay Link. I promise. Now let's go back to bed." He said, letting his hand go and turning to leave.
"Uh... Tetra..?" Link whispered. "Hm?" Tetra blinked, turning back to the blue eyed boy. "Can I... Sleep with you tonight..?" Link shuffled in the spot he was in, looking down. She laughed and nodded. "Sure guy. Now c'mon." She gestured toward the door and Link happily followed.
