Chapter Fifty-Three: Here Comes the Devil

"...and let's be honest here, people: I am the reason why this company has managed to stay afloat after all of these years," Stephanie, as usual, was cutting a rather good promo, but as typicality goes, she was lying again. "I have made the WWE my own personal playground and despite what you may believe, I am an honest and impartial person."

That statement was the absolute final straw for me. Throwing down the bottle of water that I had been sipping lightly for about an hour, I grabbed the mic that the stage manager had handed to me earlier in the night and gave Trinity a fistbump before I walked through the curtain. Tonight had to be the night that Stephanie and I made another memorable event in our feud. So that's the one and only task that I had to do tonight. But how this would all play out I didn't know. Triple H and Vince had repealed their statement and said that now, almost everything would be unscripted again. I didn't mind that, but I knew that it would lead to injuries that I did not want.

Pushing aside the curtain, I put on an angry face and said,"Now let me tell you why that's bullshit."

The crowd seemed to come to life at those words. I watched from the top of the ramp as Stephanie stared at me maliciously.

"Stephanie, you're not an honest person. I mean, you've been lying to everyone since day one. You've lied to the cops about the location of your dad when he was kidnapped by Kane and nearly killed, you lied to Becky Lynch when she was Divas Champion, having her attacked by nearly every woman in the locker room all due to the fact that you said that her reward for defeating Charlotte was in your office. Hell, you even lied to your own husband about being pregnant. And you are a biased person. Seth Rollins being the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Zack Ryder being irrelevant is proof enough of that. And lastly, you are not the sole reason why this company is so successful. It is all due to these wonderful and supportive people that tune in and attend the shows each and every week. The WWE's success rides on their shoulders, not yours."

Stephanie glared at me and said,"You have a lot of nerve to come out here and insult me like that. Especially when I am trying to deliver a speech on a very important matter. Who in the hell do you think you are?"

I laughed, adjusting the black wrist tape that Carano had forced me to put on when I had arrived at the arena earlier in the day. "Save your little threats, Stephanie. Nobody wants to hear you speak anymore. I'm pretty sure that they'd much rather watch me walk down this ramp and kick your ass."

She seemed surprised and that's when I knew the tables were beginning to turn. "Be that as it may, I advise you to not lay a hand on me. If you do, I promise that you'll regret it."

I began to walk down the ramp very slowly, giving the illusion that I was portraying myself as a hunter, and that Stephanie was essentially my prey. "Or you'll do what? Have Alicia Fox and Dana Brooke attack me again just like last week? Embarrass me in front of the entire world? That's already been done. Would you fire me, Stephanie? I'm going to lose at Wrestlemania anyway, so there's really no use in doing that."

Stephanie came closer to the ropes, clearly trying to show that she was infuriated. I was as well. And judging by my peripheral vision, the crowd was eating this up just as they did anything else. I essentially felt good about it myself, but as I began to close in on the ring, my heart began to beat really fast. The only thing that I truly had to worry about would be the possibility of getting another bloody nose or a broken bone. Firing me was practically useless. Attacking me would just make Stephanie out to be an even bigger coward than what she already was. She could Jon against me, but that didn't seem to be in the cards. I tried to convince myself that everything would be alright, but I couldn't even believe my own lie.
