~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~It's a rainy and a pretty shitty day, but I arranged to meet my best friend again after a long time. We've been working hard to live a proper life in New York and finally made it in this big city. Listening to some indie music I suffled on my ipod, I looked at the sky, a raindrop catching my eye, of course, making me whine and laugh shortly after.
I walked down the long, wet streets, looking at all the stressed and angry citizen, yelling into their phone, honking at each other or trying to get their umbrella to open. I never was one of them, always tried to be friendly and polite. After 15 minutes I arrived at the venue, waiting in front of it for my friend. Minutes of waiting after, I pulled out my phone.
"Hey, where are you?"
"Sorry Phoebe, roommate catched me walking out, can't come today."
I recieved the message and rolled my eyes. Great. Walking in the rain and waiting for nothing. I sighed and looked into the venue. Well fuck it, a peek wouldn't harm, right? I thought, walking straight into the small and cozy venue, looking out for a nice seat.
I decided myself for a high seat at a bar table with a great view to the small stage. I hung my coat over the back of the chair to dry and pulled my phone out again. The first act should show up in 5 minutes, wondering who it could be, I grabbed the flyer on the table and looked for some information. 'The Jones' Never heard of them. I thought putting the flyer back on the table as I heard the mic peeping, looking to the stage. There stood an old man, tipping the mic, testing it.
"Well, Ladys and Gentlemen, it seems like our first act couldn't come here, but don't worry we've got a volunteer, who would like to entertain us, until the next act arrives." I lifted an eyebrow and couldn't believe it. 'You better give me a good one' I thought as I heared the man continue.
"Ladys and Gentlemen, James Bay."
James Bay? I know this guy, he made 'Hold Back The River' right? Shortly after the old man got off stage, another man arrived at the mic with his guitar. Long, brown hair, a black hat, dark blue shirt, black jeans and brown shoes, smiling into the crowd that slowly developed. "Hello." He said kindly with a thick british accent. "You may or may not know me, but, well, I'm gonna play anyway." He said smiling and the crowd laughed. He really spreads happyness through the whole venue. "The first song's called Incomplete." He tuned his guitar and started strumming the sides.
'This really sounds good' I thought, smiling as I watched James play. He really feels himself into the music he makes, every song another story.
"I breathe in slow to compose myself
But the bleeding heart I left on the shelf"My eyes widened, he really got a strong and beautiful voice.
"Started speeding up, beating half to death
'Cause you're here and all mine"I never had the time to listen to his music, but now I'm blown away, surprised about the conent of the text and the softness of his voice.
"So I press my lips down into your neck
And I stay there
And I reconnect"I closed my eyes, listening to the whole symphony, he offered to the crowd. Letting his voice and feeling have control over him. I'm really into chilly music, and this is excactly what I was looking for.
