"I'm sorry she has...cancer." said Dr. Smith. "What?" I said grabbing my mouth." "Yes, she has Leukemia." said Dr. Smith hugging me. "Why...why couldn't it have been me, she's just 13," I said wiping away my tears on my scratchy wool sweater. "May, don't blame yourself there was nothing you could of done, the surgery could work," said Mr. Smith. "Yes, please try," I said. "I will do everything I can, you can go see her," he said opening the door.

Before he could even say anything else I ran in there and hugged Winter. "May....what- what's gonna happen to me?" she asked looking up to me with those big brown eyes. "Nothing Winter, they are gonna cure you," I said wiping the tears off her face. We sat on the hospital bed crying.

Me and Winter are in a foster home. Our parents obviously didn't care about me or Winter. I mean I was two and Winter was an infant. I barely even remember them. When I do it's always mom, something tells me she didn't want to leave us...dad on the other hand. I think he might have forced her.

The doctor came in and talked to our new foster parents about the price of the surgery financially and physically. Me and Winter hugged each other till our "parents" came in. "Kids we payed for the surgery it's in 2 weeks so Winter we can leave until then. After, the surgery you'll have to stay a week or so for recovery, okay?" she said. Winter nodded and inside I was like, "Of course she is gonna go along with it she doesn't want to freaking die, retards!" That made me start to tear up.

Winter got up and headed into the bathroom to change. She came out wearing a cotton T-shirt and blue-jean shorts, she had on sandals and put her hair in a ponytail. "Ready to go, honey?" said my "dad" grabbing her purse. Winter snatched it out of his hands and said, "Yeah lets go." We followed "mom"out of the hospital to the parking lot.

We got into dad's 2013 Nissan Altima. Me and Winter sat with a gap in between us. I put my purse in the gap and so did Winter. "May wanna go home and play on the trampoline?" she asked. "Sure, can I ask Tyson?" I asked. She nodded and went back to telling mom and dad about the disgusting food at the hospital

Tyson is my boyfriend we have been together since sixth grade. We are currently in our freshman year of high school. Tyson lives with his mom as an only child.  Winter likes him so it's a plus.

Winter and me got home and mom and dad went inside. "Imma change okay, you get the trampoline ready," I said. She nodded and I walked to my room. I put on blue-jean shorts and a tank top. I put on some flip flops and slipped on some mascara to cover up were I was crying before.

I went outside and I saw that Tyson and Winter were talking and Tyson was watching her jump on the trampoline. I snuck up behind him and wrapped my arms around him, "Hey." "Hey short stuff," He said kissing me on my forehead.

"I'm not that short," I said. "Please, your practically a midget," he said. I laughed and hit his shoulder. "Jerk," I said with a chuckle. He rolled his eyes and we all got on the trampoline.

"May, Winter, Tyson come on dinner time," said "mom" yelling out the window. We all sighed and got off the trampoline.

We walked into our Colonial style home and washed our hands. Then, we sat at our dining table.

"Dad" sat next to Winter and Mom did the same. Me and Tyson sat in front of them. "This spaghetti is delicious Mrs. Lancaster," said Tyson. "Thank you Tyson," she said smiling than looked at me blushing.
