'' Love is but the discovery of ourselves in others and the delight in the recognition''- Alexander Smith
Ella's POV
When I woke up the next morning, I had to admit I slept pretty well. Bright as hell sunlight shone through my window and a small bird perched itself on my window sill.
I untangled myself from my sheets and padded into my bathroom to freshen up. Upon exiting the bathroom, I headed straight downstairs into the kitchen.
'' Morning,'' I greeted. My mother looked up from her coffee cup and smiled.
'' Hey sweetie,'' she said.
'' Hey,'' Nick mumbled through a mouthful of a sandwich. It was then did I notice the sub in his hands.
'' Where did you get the food?,'' I asked as my stomach growled.
'' Dad went out and bought us some Subway,'' he replied as he pushed a paper bag towards me.
I immediately snatched the bag from the counter, pulling out my sandwich and sat down to have breakfast.
A few moments later, my father made an appearance, and sat down to breakfast with us.
'' So I was thinking,'' mom began. '' Today we can all go shopping to stock up the house on groceries and essentials''
'' Sound great, honey''
Soon after breakfast, mom made us all shower and get dressed for our shopping trip.
*******
'' Now, you three understand what your instructions are?,'' mom asked.
After a little disagreement, we had arrived at a nearby Best Buy. Mom told us each to get a cart and handed each of us a list of items that needed to be purchased. We nodded a 'yes'.
'' Great,'' she said. '' Now move!''
I groaned, pushing my cart over to the southern wing of the store, in search of the frozen items; hotdogs, ice-cream and chicken breast being the first items on my list. When I got them I searched the store again, this time for toilet paper and spotted the giant pyramid of Charmin.
How was I supposed to get one from the top?
I jumped, jumped and jumped some more but I just couldn't reach one. Being 5'4' has its disadvantages.
'' Need some help there?,'' a voice asked from behind me.
I turned to come face to face with a guy with sparkling emerald green eyes. He was dressed in the Best Buy employee uniform; a navy blue shirt and khaki pants.
'' Yes please,'' I answered, adjusting my shirt with a picture of Elmo on it. He reached up and easily grabbed a pack and handed it to me.
'' Thank you,'' I said.
'' No problem''
For a moment, he just stood there stood staring at me, like he was analysing my features. I swayed a bit in my boots.
'' You don't look familiar,'' he said. '' Are you new?''
I nodded. '' I just moved here yesterday''
He reached to poke the nose of the Elmo on my shirt. I found his action quite childish but weird at the same time.
'' Oh,'' he blurted out all of a sudden. '' My name is Kyle''
He held out his hand and I accepted. '' Ella''
He grinned. '' I could help you find the rest of the things you need, if you like''
