"Chandler!" I was losing him again. I can't lose him again. "Chandler! Don't leave me."I sat up right then to the pounding of a fist on my door. "Larken! Get up now or else!" My sister yelled.
"I'm up!" I yelled back as nicely as I could.
"Well hurry up! We're leaving in thirty and I don't want to deal with you." My sister Liz was my legal guardian. Our parents had died three years ago when I was fifteen and Liz being four years older than me and having no knowledge of any other relatives that could take me in, Liz gained custody of me. I wish she hadn't become my guardian because once our parents died I saw the real side of my older sister which was an abusive, scary side. I practically live in fear of my big sister. Luckily she's been distracted lately with the fact that we're moving to Washington from Texas.
"Hey Liz. Are you guys ready?" I heard Charlie ask my sister. Charlie is my sister's boyfriend. They've been dating since before my parents died and he's the reason we're moving. It's not a bad thing that he's the reason, the reason is that his dad just died and his sister is going through a nasty divorce which is putting a lot of stress on their mom so he asked Liz if we would be willing to move with him back to Washington to help take care of his mother and sister, and of course knowing Liz she said yes almost immediately so here we are moving out of my childhood home.
"Yeah almost. Just let me go get Larken real quick," I heard her reply. I knew what was coming so I ran back to my room to grab my stuff and turned around just before my sister shoved me against the wall. "Do anything to mess this up and I'll make your life even more of a living hell," she threatened before backing up a little and throwing a punch to my stomach, causing me to double over in pain. Sadly Charlie has no idea what my sister is really like and I'm too scared of her to tell him.
"Larken let's go!" I heard Charlie call from the bottom of the stairs. Quickly I grabbed my stuff again and tried to gain my composure before heading downstairs. "Here let me take those for you," Charlie said to me once I reach the first story.
"Thanks Charlie," I said to him with a smile and gave him a hug. Charlie always made me feel better no matter what I was going through.
"I see you have some new bruises. Should I even ask what they were from this time?" he asked with a smirk. I looked down and saw what he meant. I had shorts and a tank top on so people could see the new bruises on my arms and legs. Some were from skateboarding but most of them were from my sister.
"Hey no one ever said skateboarding was easy," I replied.
"Come on it's time to go," he said as he put his arm around my shoulders and led me outside to the car. My sister was leaning against the car with her arms crossed and she was glaring at me. I shrank back a little bit but luckily Charlie didn't notice as we walked over to her. "Let's get this show on the road!" he yelled before giving my sister a kiss. How he puts up with her I'll never know.
The car ride lasted only half an hour before we pulled up in front of the airport. Since we needed a ride to the airport Charlie and I had my best friend Alex give us a ride. She didn't object of course since she wanted to make sure I got there safely. Alex was the only one that knew about my sister and she was really protective of me whenever Liz was around us.
"I'm really gonna miss you," I told her as I give her one last hug.
"You know that you can always come home and live with us if things go south. We'll pay for everything," she whispered in my ear.
"I know and I'll remember that," I said then pulled back a little, "We'll definitely Skype though."
"You better or I'll come up there!" we both started laughing a that.
