Arianna nervously fumbled with the hem of her midnight blue dress. She had waited 45 minutes for her boyfriend, Damen, and she was beginning to grow doubtful that he would ever even show up. Wiping away a tear from the edge of her eye with her silk glove, she softly padded to the front of the restaurant. "Mademoiselle, aren't you going to order?" A waitress with jet black hair, and almond eyes tapped Arianna on her shoulder as she turned around, her red-rimmed eyes, glistening with the promise of several new tears. "N-no." She muttered, almost inaudibly. "Alright, then. You have a good night, ok hun?" The waitress gave her one more look of sheer understanding, and turned away, striding back to the counter.
Hand clutching the ruffles of her chiffon dress, Arianna sprinted out of the restaurant, the cold night breeze sending goosebumps all over her neck.
"Arianna?" A gruff voice came from behind her. Slowly, she turned around to face no other than her father, Eric Tulle, famous millionaire and alpha of the Liquid Rose pack. "Come back inside, all my colleagues want to meet you."
"I'm going to head back home, if that's okay." Arianna bit back the urge to break down and start crying in front of him. "You didn't bring your car, remember? I drove you." Eric raised his eyebrows, and crossed his arms, waiting for an answer.
"I'll just get D-damen to pick me up."
"Speaking of, where is he? He was supposed to be here almost an hour ago."
"I-I don't know..."
Eric glanced down at his diamond-encrusted watch, and frowned, the air thick with tension.
"I just want to go on a walk and get some air, dad. Please?"
Before he could respond, the pack's beta, Harry Nolan, ran out of the restaurant, a frantic expression etched into the lines on his face.
"Alpha Tulle, a rogue has been identified on the western shore! Should I sound the alarm!?""Gather our best men, and tell the women and children to head back to the pack house immediately." Eric ordered, heaving his bulky frame back up the flight of stairs, to the restaurant.
"Get back to the house NOW Ari."
"But-"
"NOW."
"Fine. I'll go." Arianna whispered.
"Good girl." Eric beamed down at his daughter, his gaze making her writhe in guilt about what she was about to do.
"Just go, dad."
And with that, Eric sprinted into the restaurant, his arm latching protectively onto his mate's arm. Oblivious that his daughter had slunk into the shadows, unnoticed. Oblivious that that was the last time he would ever see her. Oblivious that he had lost her forever.
