Third Person POV
Rem's exclamation left everyone stunned. It was true. In the corner of the old gym fire had broken out and it was spreading ferociously throughout the gym. Panic took hold of the students.
"What do we do now? The gym's old. It will burn up within few minutes and the coach is still isn't here!" Richard said alarmed at the situation.
Before anyone could reply, a piercing sound encircled the school. The smoke alarm! Within few seconds the water sprinklers activated, putting out the fire and leaving the five students drenched from head to toe.
"Well at least we don't have to worry about the fire anymore." Feromichelle innocently said, earning glares from the rest of the students.
"I suggest we should get out of here before anyone catches us or we could be in serious trouble." Charlie said nervously looking around while taking his glasses off.
After all, they were the only students on school premise after hours and being caught would land them in serious trouble.
All of the students nodded in unity and began shuffling towards the exit of the building. They hadn't gotten very far when they heard the sirens approaching the school.
Without wasting another second the five quickly crossed the oval and ran towards the back gate. Upon reaching it, they found it locked.
"What? Are you kidding me! Who locked this gate? I swear that's where I came in from and now its padlocked! " Feromichelle shouted out in frustration.
"Now isn't a good time to discuss who locked the gates. C'mon, let's try the front gates." Rem replied sounding calm.
"Yeah before anyone catches us!" Do Tanshui pitched in.
All of the students realised the cruciality of the time and rushed towards the main gates of the school only to be confronted by the side of 2 police cars, an ambulance and the scariest of all, the vice principal's car.
"So Richie-Rich, can't your parents get us out of this one with all the money they have." Feromichelle said looking defeated.
"The name is Richard and no. They can't get us out because they are on a holiday and if they were to find out about this, I will be cut off from my money. I am already in enough trouble as it is." Richard commented rather looking annoyed.
"There must be another exit or we can just jump the fence!" Charlie said looking around as tiny beads of sweat had already started forming on his forehead.
"No" Rem sighed. "The school has only two exits, the main exit and one at the rear of the school that was locked. As far as jumping the fence is concerned, we can't do that. You see the top wire" she said pointing at the fence as all the students quietly nodded, "well, electricity runs through it and it's impossible to avoid it without getting electrocuted and disabling the alarm." she concluded her speech.
"Of course the rebel would know!" Feromichelle murmured.
"What's with you anyway jock? You think you know us too well to comment about us, uh?" Rem suddenly lost her temper surprising Feromichelle.
His eyes bulged out and silently nodded a no.
"That's what I thought. Now stay quiet if you haven't got something constructive to say!" Rem said glaring at Feromichelle.
Moments of silence passed before Do Tanshui decided to speak.
"I don't think there's any point in running. We are caught. It's better to surrender with dignity now before things get more out of hand." She softly said to others.
"Hate to agree but she is right. We can just explain ourselves to Mrs. Smith and I know she will understand. I mean, it's not like we have done anything wrong." Charlie said looking at everyone to see their reaction.
"I doubt that Mrs. Smith will understand but we are out of options anyway so let's do it." Rem said, taking side with Do Tanshui and Charlie.
"We are all in this together." Richard shrugged agreeing with the majority.
"I can't believe it you just quoted high school musical but I have got no choice so count me in!" Feromichelle reluctantly agreed.
With all the 5 students agreed on one thing, they soundlessly walked towards the front gate where the blaring noise of the sirens could be heard. Each one of the students heart thumped loudly in their chests as their fate was now in the hands of policemen outside and Mrs. Smith, who wasn't known for being kind-hearted.
Suddenly a shrill voice called out to the five from behind that made them stop dead in their tracks. "You! Stop! You kids thought you could get away from me after trespassing the school grounds. In my office NOW! ALL OF YOU!" said none other than Mrs. Smith.
Before anyone could say a work, Mrs. Smith had already begun her journey to her office when they all unmistakably heard an evil laugh. The students passed each other a look of confusion but followed Mrs. Smith nevertheless.
