''Love loves to love love'' - James Joyce
*********************
Ella's POV
"Ella...Ella...Isabella!,'' my mother's voice sounded, making me jolt awake.
''Hmmm?,'' I groaned as I made eye contact with her from across the kitchen island.
'' Don't put your face in your toast, honey,'' she said.
It was a struggle for me to wake up this morning but somehow, I managed to make it downstairs to the kitchen. I even managed to get dressed.
'' Come on sweetie, lighten up. Its your first day of school''
I groaned. Just then, my dad came into the room hustling.
'' Let's go honey. We need to leave now if we're gonna make it on time,'' he spoke to my mom.
'' Okay,'' she responded, grabbing her purse and tossing the car keys to my father.
'' Where are you guys going?,'' I asked.
'' Out!,'' my mom called back out and then the door slammed.
Well.
'' You ready?,'' Nick asked, entering the kitchen.
'' Yeah,'' I lied.
'' You didn't finish your breakfast,'' he commented.
'' I'm not hungry ''
He shook his head.'' Come on, I'll buy you a donut at Starbuck's''
A small smile spread across my face. I knew his actions were only to make me feel better.
*******
Since our parents took the car, Nick and I had to walk to school which was a good fifteen minutes away from home. Conveniently, a Starbucks was located directly across the street from the school and as promised, Nick bought me my donut.
NORTH VALLEY HIGH.
I stared up at the words on the building in disgust. I don't hate school, but I don't particularly like it either.
As we walked through the doors of the school, no one paid as much attention to us as I expected. They seemed oblivious to the fact that we were there and that was proven when a jock trying to catch a football almost ran me over.
'' The receptionist office is this way,'' Nick said, tugging me with him around the corner.
'' And how do you know that?,'' I asked. He turned to me and pointed to a sign that gave clear directions to the receptionist office and other various parts of the school.
Upon entering the receptionist office, we gained the attention of middle-aged woman sitting behind a wooden desk.
'' Hello darlings, how may I help you?,'' she asked politely.
''Isabella and Nicolas Bianco. We just transferred here,'' Nick spoke to her for the both of us.
'' Of course,'' she smiled. She reached into one of her drawers, pulling out a couple papers. '' Here are your class schedules''
We thanked her and exited the office into the bustling hallways.
'' Let me see your schedule,'' Nick told me. I handed him my schedule and I watched as he read it over and frowned. '' We only have two classes together. Biology and Math''
Great. I only have two classes with my brother and one of them I despise the hell out of. Just then, the bell sounded.
'' I'll see you in Biology, okay?,'' Nick said. I nodded. He patted my shoulder before he disappeared in the crowd of the halls.
