Chapter 13

I was scared! I didn't knew what to do! I couldn't call the police into this and I couldn't bring friends. What if he kills them! Or what if he kills me? I decided not to go and wait until tomorrow to ask Hitomi help.
It was half past midnight and I was hoping whoever he is he went away by now. I sitting against the wall next to the bedroom door. I was calm wondering what would I tell Hitomi tomorrow. But then something knocked the door. Over and over again. It must be him looking for me! I thought. I cover my mouth with my hand to avoid noises until a paper slid down the door. I slowly crawled up to it, careful not to make noises. He stopped knocking but I knew he was still in there because of the breathing noises.
" I know your in there, awake. I can hear you breathing, even if you try to cover it. I'm sad because you didn't want to meet up with me. Are you scared? I wont hurt you. I'm just trying to protect you. Do you want to open the door so we can talk?"
I grabbed a pen and wrote on the note.
" Yes, of course I'm scared! You killed two innocent people and i don't even know you! What did they do wrong?"
I slipped the paper back through the door. I heard him writing.
" They tried to harm you! I am just trying to protect you against this world! This world is screwed up! You should know that now, I mean you almost got killed by a ghoul 2 weeks ago!!"
" How do you know that?" I wrote.
"What do you mean how I know that? I saved you that night! I killed the ghoul and brought you home. You thought it was the police? The CCG? Hitomi? Or that after you fainted he just decided not to eat you and bring you home? That's laughable Tomoe Chan! I hate to say this but if it weren't for me you would be in a ghoul's stomach by now."
" T-Thank y-you!" I whisper to the door.
"It's alright Tomoe Chan. This is good enough for me. You should rest, you have school tomorrow. I'll still keep following you, it makes me feel better to know that you'll be safer with me around. We'll talk soon. Sleep well Tomoe Chan."
After he slipped this through the door he left and so I went to bed.
I couldn't focus for much of the day. All I kept thinking about is that he saved me from that ghoul two weeks ago. I would be dead if he hasn't showed up. I told Hitomi what happened and she seemed shocked as I am but way more mad.
" But who that guy thinks he is?" It was what she kept saying. Until around three in the afternoon, after school ended, he showed up.
" Hey, there's a really creepy guy watching us!" She said.
I looked back to find centipede in his normal clothes leaning against a wall staring at us.
" Oh, that's centipede actually! He told me he would keep following me"
" And your fine with it?"
" Not really, but there's not much I can do!"
" I'll show him!" She said walking towards him.
" Hitomi!" I screamed but i was too late.
Kaneki's pov
I watched Hitomi and my Tomoe-Chan hanging out like they usually do. It made me a bit jealous but I guess Hitomi is the one to be jealous after I have Tomoe all to myself.
I suddenly watched Tomoe and her friend staring at me. I blushed a little but then Hitomi barged her way to me.
" I'm sorry, but who do you think you are to be scaring Tomoe and stalking her, you creep!" She yelled at me.
I remained quiet. I had nothing to gain with this.
" You don't answer? Maybe this will make you answer!" She said and slapped me.
The pain was nothing compared to what I've been through and honestly I could easily dodged if I wanted but it pissed me off enough to activate my kakugan. I stared at her, opened eyed as she stared at my kakugan, shaking in fear.
" I'm sorry!" Was all she could say as she backed away. She ran away but I was fast enough to caught her wrist and bringer closer to me, squeezing her wrist tight and raising it above her head, bringing her face close to mine, but not too close.
" I won't hurt you for this, but maybe you should start to leave my Tomoe Chan alone! After all, we don't want to hang another body on Tomoe Chan's apartment and cover it with blood do we?" I threatened her.
" N-no!" That's all she said as Tomoe came running to us. I released the bratty girl and walked away, hiding in a place where I could still heard them.
Gladly, the girl didn't opened her mouth, even after multiple attempts of Tomoe to uncover the truth.
Tomoe pov
I have no idea what centipede told her but now she wants to run away from me. I don't blame her. It was 9 pm and I came back from work. Well at least from the walk I had. Strangely I slowly started to get more trust in centipede, even if he kept following me, being always 15 meters away. Wherever in crowded places or when it was just the two of us, he was right there. I felt like stopping and went straight to him but I hold myself up.
I was almost getting home when suddenly a cry of help was heard. I was suspicious because of the last event however, I grabbed my pepper spray and run to it anyway.
A man in a ripped blood covered suit was dragging itself on the floor. I helped him up and tried to walk him out of there. I watched centipede at the end of the alley and I could feel him threatening the man with his eyes.
All I heard was a slash and something pierced the mans heart. He felt limp on the floor,dragging me with him.
A couple of ghouls surrounded me, as I heard things like so cute! what a pretty! lucky me! As one dragged me up, I could see their glowing red and black eyes and see their faces change from happiness to terror in a split second.
" OMG, he's here!"
" Run away!"
" Each man for their lifes!"
Suddenly from behind me, twin centipede like tentacles came, and I heard was slash and thump noises, as the tentacles slashed and killed the ghouls.
" Please,don't hurt me! Please!" I shaked and crying. This is it! I'm gonna die! I thought.
Two warm arms surrounded by figure as a face buried itself on the crook of my neck.
" I told you I wouldn't hurt you. See? Its the second time I saved your life!"
" Wwait... Your centipede? Both the kakuja ghoul and... My admirer?"
" I thought the name was a giveaway!" I heard coming from my neck. " I think it's time we go home now, Tomoe Chan!"
Suddenly I blacked out.
