An icy breeze creeps up my spine and delivers chills to every inch of my body as I step out the front door.
I freeze in my path.
Something doesn't feel right tonight.
Ava comes running from behind me and crashes into my back, almost knocking me off my feet.
"Oops sorry." Ava says while fixing her tiara.
"It's fine." I say still with that feeling of not rightness.
Something feels wrong; there is no people trick or treating. And the streets are completely empty. At our old neighborhood hundreds of kids were out wondering the streets, knocking on every door for candy. But there is
nobody."So are we going to go trick or treating or what?" Ava says waving her hand in front of my face, breaking me out of my thoughts
"Yah, uh yah.." I say
Ava runs to the first house in our new neighborhood that has a light on.
I chase after her.
She rings the doorbell.
We wait, I stand patiently while Ava on the other hand jumps up and down. The door doesn't open.
"Hello?" A voice from the inside says
Ava gives me a confused look.
I shrug"Trick or treat?" Ava says
"What's that?" The voice says
"It's Halloween?" I say with confusion
"So what are you doing out?" The voice says with a nervous tone.
"We're trick or treating." Ava says
"Are you new to the neighborhood or do you have a death wish?" The voice asks
"Uh, We moved in 3 days ago." I say
"Well you better go back to where you came from if..."
Enormous loud screeching voices that echo between the houses make Ava and I turn.
