He was so adorable when he blushed, I thought as I reached up absentmindedly flicking my light brown locks off of my face.

I hated how long it was getting, but I knew for a fact it always made him---there it went! It always made Grady blush as red as a cardinal whenever I flicked it away. That's the only reason I'd let it grow this long.

"So, uh..." he fidgeted, eyes going everywhere but to meet my own.

I let loose a low chuckle, and inwardly swooning over him. Why someone like me thought someone like Grady would like him, I had no idea.

As a matter of fact, I think Sang was the only one who knew about my crush. Not even her 2nd knew.......well, at least I think he didn't.

Standing 6'4, with long-too long-light brown hair, I knew I looked pretty good to the girls around here. I was tall, muscular, and, though I didn't have a 6 pack, my abdomen did not flop whatsoever. You could barely pinch any skin up!

Yet, I still knew a guy like Grady would never look at a guy like me.

For one thing, despite how effeminate he was, I don't know if he's actually gay or not.

Second, he was a literal genius. The guy was off the charts smart. And even though they often treated him like crap, he still willingly stayed after school many days just to tutor the idiot jocks at this school.

I hated it when Sang walked up earlier today and asked him if he had any more problems; that helped me to realize that he needed more protection. I knew he wasn't exactly 'popular' but he hadn't even told me that he was so scared to walk home that he had had to call Sang.

As our 1, I know we're supposed to look to her for help when we need it. But I wanted to be Grady's knight in shining armor.

I could've smacked myself when I thought that. He wasn't some blushing princess. And I wasn't some valiant knight.

But, I stupidly gave myself hope, Sang practically forced us together for the time being. And I'm all for lightening her load.

"How bout I walk you to your class this time, and next period, you can walk with me to mine?"

Grady's cheeks lit up again except this time, he turned to his locker and pretended to be getting something out of it. The bell went while he was pretending so I gently closed it and grabbed his bag, slinging it over my other shoulder.

My phone buzzed after I dropped him at his class and I was disappointed when he practically snatched the bag and ran into the class as I was lifting it from my jean pocket.

Had I been coming on too strong? Karen had mentioned before that I sometimes stared at him for long periods of time. Though, she had said it wasn't that noticeable. And it couldn't be. Because Grady himself hadn't picked up on it, as smart as he is.

Speaking of, the text was actually about her. The grapevine was still going strong.

I texted Micky quickly, "No word. Sang doesn't know either." She had asked if I knew what was up with Karen screaming on the intercom yesterday.
