Chapter 1: what happened

The year 2035 looking back the world as we knew it is gone. I'm sixteen and when I was eleven they made a new law about the way the U.S runs. Now we have one focus and one focus only technology. The only thing I can do is the one thing that I am bad at and it is the thing that can ultimately kill me in the end. We have to use a different protocol anything you knew back then isn't the case now. We have to play this one simple game every day at this point. I feel threatened because I know and say to myself death is near for us me and my mother. My brothers and my father are going to kick us out for being terrible at the game we are forced to play because they own the top four spots; my father 1st, the middle brother is 2nd, my oldest brother 3rd and the youngest brother 4th. On the other hand I am 3rd to last and my mother is 2nd to last.

There are lots of things that we don't know because our primary focus is the game. Every day the expectations rise. Once a week we have to go in and play in front of judges so they can update the score board. To clarify a little bit more you can try as many times as you want and me and my mom get notified when we are in last place and we have 24 hours to get out of last place.

My day consists of a lot for example watching my brother's studding their habits of the game so hopefully I won't be in last and die. They always get far they have a record of 311,081 but my father has a considerable lead over them flipping the game eleven times in his prime and getting over four million points and is the champ of this joint.

I am worried though I know I shouldn't but we are the only country that does this. People say it is because the U.S is over populated but of course as you could probably infer I am against any of this because I mean us woman already have the disadvantage as men's reaction time is 20 milliseconds faster than ours. But is we were playing a game with sexual arousals then we'd have the advantage by 1730 milliseconds that's a ton. There is no way to make theses game even so the point is at some point either gender will have the disadvantage and we need to find other ways to make this even. What happens to all of the jocks? The NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA, even the NHL all those hotties gone. I feel bad for them all of the many achievements and accomplishments they had gone. That's what they lived for besides their family. They're the ones that go into a depressed state and purposely get zeros and kill themselves. I don't like that at all.

We study them and I take this seriously. Yesterday I was called in and I was notified once again that I am 3rd to last with 18,500 points. I need to perfect my game my mom yes even though she is second to last she is working hard but us unlike the regulars have food and not that cupboard stuff like Ritz, Bars any kind, chips, etc. I couldn't live off of that! I looked solemnly at my brothers like I was crazily intent on them and my oldest brother gave me a smug look whereas my youngest brother was trying to shoo me away, but my favorite brother Lance gave me a smile and asked If I wanted to practice.

"Sure!" I said excited that I was going to practice and be tutored by the best of the brothers.

The other two brothers Jason and Mark just like I think my father does. Even though I'm getting these smug looks I'm glad I have a brother that really cares. Lance showed me some new techniques that I was unaware of like the arrow guys if you hit them just right they all die. I looked amazed I never knew that. He also showed me that the faster I hit the blocks the faster the power up come down (speed, triple blasters, lasers and buddies although I have never got there before I have seen the pink flower like things. In my opinion they're perfect but Jason on the other hand hates them. I love it so much as my youngest brother mark likes It. I worry for him liking all of the so called feminine colors at his age of eleven. He sure of heck would've been ridiculed if he went to school. School was something that I never got to do either but my mom and dad did.

I tell my mom that I am ready for bed and ask her to explain why we have to undergo all of this and she explained in very long detail and basically... there was a revolution about school being a waste of our life and how they were taking up environmental space. So they thought they went rouge and they started tearing the schools down. Some states were fighting this new protocol and the last one to sort of follow the government was Washington this one needs major explaining.
