I sigh and sit on the stone steps of A Hall. I'd just finished first period and I'm already tired of today. I felt like puking. Flight training is my first period, which isn't good before a whole day of school. It's not good for focusing. You feel lightheaded and airy, dizzy most of the time. Ugh, I hate it!
Mark, who's in my first period, walks down the steps and offers me a hand. He pulls me up.
"Hey," he says.
"Hi," I reply.
"So I heard we're getting assigned our first mundane today!"
"Really? Great!"
"I hope I get a hot girl!"
"Oh shut up! We all know that's me!"
He rolls his eyes. "Right. Ok. Well, I gotta go."
"Bye!"
I skip to C hall, where Guardian Lessons are. That's where we'll be assigned our mundanes. My class is in Mrs. Gillian's room, C-05. She's a tall teacher, with an intimidating height. She has dark, beady black eyes that can bore holes right through your skull. Her skin is a tan any girl is jealous. Her hair is a beach blond, like she's lived on the beach all her life. Her gaze could be soft, if she likes you. If she doesn't, well...
"Take your seats, class!" She says, in a loud yet sweet voice.
Mrs. Gillian is a mix of things, a mix of good and evil. She has her nice side, but on bad days, her evil side is dominant. You don't want to be around her then. She's like, a sugar coated, winged hellhound on those days.
"Today, you'll be receiving your mundanes!"
The class cheers.
"Now, we've tried to make it a challenge for you. When I call your name, come up to my desk to receive your packet."
She calls a few names before getting to me. "Cheyenne Jones!"
I walk back to her desk. She hands me a packet.
"Thank you," I say.
"Good luck," she replies with a glint in her eye. "Although I think you'll do well. You're my best student."
"Thank you, ma'am. That's good to hear," I reply.
I was proud of myself.
"Go along, now."
I return to my seat and open the Manila folder. I have a guy named Colin. He's in high school, same age as me. Great, I got a guy. I didn't want a guy. I wanted a girl. I guess I have to try, though.
