It was supposed to be just a regular, normal day at middle school. Where no one would find out my secret. No one was supposed to! But yet, out of all people, my best friend has to find out.
It started when I was walking home. I had no idea she was following me! I was racing through the woods, taking my normal short cuts, when I decided I was far enough. I turned into a dog, and was about to run when I heard my best friend called out, "Macy...? You're a dog?"
I froze in horror, and studied Anya for a moment. Today was not the day I would let her know about this! How much had she seen? Could I act like I was a normal dog? That was my plan. I let out a low growl and raced off. But I turned around, and there she was hot on my heels.
"When were you going to tell me about this? Never?" I didn't answer.
"Come on Macy! I know your secret already. Just tell me already."
"Fine, okay? I'm a dog. Go. Go tell the school. Ruin my life." The words came out of pure frustration. Anya looked wounded.
"Macy! I would never. I'm still your best friend. I'm just mad because you never told me about it."
"Well, I never planned on telling you. Or anyone, in that matter." I said grumpily.
"Why not? Its so cool that you can turn into a dog!"
"Exactly, Anya. Now I need to go."
"Wait! I still have questions!"
"But I don't have answers. Now keep this secret. I'm trusting you." With that, I turned and left for home. I cant believe what happened. She wasn't supposed to follow me!! Out of any day, She picks the day that I decide to run free? Just my luck.
