My names Riley. Riley Bradshaw. I'm 15 years old. Also I'm new to the town of Big Rock, WV. And I go to the school Cabell Midland. This is my story...

----------------------------------------------------

"Did you unpack your things sweetie?" Asked my Mom.

"Yes. I'm all settled in." I smiled unsure if this was the best idea or not. Me and my Mom packed up our things from Detroit a week after my Dad died when he was hit head on by a drunk. We went to my Grandma's house in California. Stayed there for a few months then moved here. I haven't made any friends so far, but school will start for me tomorrow. And I'm really nervous.

"Hunny I know your scared of this drastic change. But your father would've wanted it. Lay out your clothes for tomorrow I'll be in here later to fix your hair." She turned around and walked out patting a picture of my dad hanging on my wall. Once the door closed I flopped down on my bed and let out a loud grunt. I was excited to be here, I could restart. But I was afraid no one would accept me. I would be an outcast, a loser. Maybe worse of there is such a thing. I'd just have to wait and see tomorrow.

First day of my new Highschool? How do I feel? ...horrible. Like I could drop dead in front of these people and no one would notice, they'd just run over top of me. I walked to my first class and awkwardly tried to avoid the teacher...I knew an introduction would be in order for me. But just as I thought I was clear.

"Oh! Ms. Bradshaw! Please, why in such a hurry? Come up to the front of the class were you can acquaint yourself with the students."

My feet stopped moving before my body did. Thinking I'd fall this muscular boy grabbed my by the waist and pulled me up. I turned around to be greeted by the most handsomest face I'd ever seen.

"Hello." He said. His tan skin shinning from the sun. Making him look even more presentable. Baby blue eyes and blonde shaggy hair. He looked so much like my summer love a few years back. Which just dazed me even more.

"H-hello..." I manage to smile.

"My names Jon." He smiled back, "Whats you-"

"Jon. I think that's enough flirting with the new student! No move along and let her present herself properly!" Interrupted the teacher. Jon rolled his eyes and winked at me. Then scuffed past me and say at his desk.

"Thank you Jon. Now Ms. Bradshaw. Present yourself."

I slowly walked up there, feeling more stupid than I probably looked. Setting down my things on the teachers desk I waved at everyone.

"Hello...uh. My name is Riley Bradshaw. I moved here from Detroit-"

"Detroit? Why would you want to move away from Detroit?" Asked a red haired tall boy in the back.

"I um...my Dad." I paused and looked at the teacher to see if he'd not allow me to continue. But sadly he was just as curious as the rest of the class. "My Dad was killed. He was hit by a drunk driver in a 18 wheeler. I was in the car with him. The doctors said they had no idea why I didn't die too. So me and my Mom packed our things and moved here." I looked up from the continues stare I gave my shoes to see the classes reaction. Shocked. They all look like I was sprouting trees out of my ears. I turned to look at the teacher. Shocked. Maybe even more than the kids. Great. So now I'd be labeled the freak with a tortured past. God damn that red head.

The teacher cleared his throat. "Oh. Okay. Um, we'll welcome to this class I hope everyone treats you accordingly. My names Mr. David. You can take witch ever empty seat you want.

I walked to the back of the class and there was only one empty seat. And that was next to Jon. I wanted to smile but now that he knew all about my past he's probably down rated me. So I say down next to him and tried not to make eye contact. Half way thru Mr. David's extremely boring lecture. I felt Jon nudge my elbow and discreetly slide a piece of paper over too me. It read.

'Everything you say up there, was it true?'

I took out my pencil and wrote.

'...yes. I'm sorry, I let out to much to soon. Did you see everyone's face!? They looked at me like I was a freak.'

I slide the paper over to him. He read it and slide it back.

'Trust me they don't think of you like that. The only bitch who probably dose is this blonde in front of us, she thinks she's better than everyone. Her names Charissa. Try to keep your distance from her, she'll kill you.'

I write back.

'Wow thank you so much for the heads up. I've needed someone to help me.'

He writes.

'Don't worry. Your cute, I'll help you.'

"Excuse me? Jon? Riley. I'm glad your making friends but you can do that out in the hall not by passing notes in my class. Put that away."

"Sorry sir." Says Jon and take the piece of paper and crumbles it up. Tossing it in the trash next to him. "Won't happen again."

Wow he's such a gentlemen. And really cute. First day of school just got a lot better.
