He sighed into the girl's, long and black hair. He didn't even remember her name. She lay on her side, holding his arm at her stomach. "Are you going to stay awhile?" He whispered, cutting into the silence.

She shook her head. "You know this wasn't going to last Vice." She turned and smiled at him. Vice's nose wrinkled together as she turned back. Another lost hope... He pulled his arm away from her and rolled onto his other side, pulling the sheets over his shoulders. His eyes were dark and distant.

Vice walked out of his room and down the long murky hallway to the small dank kitchen. She was already gone. He kicked his foot, why couldn't he remember her name, or half of their names for that matter? "She's gone already, Vice?" He peered over to see his bestfriend.

Vice groaned a yes and fell into a wooden chair. "The sad thing is I don't even remember her name." He grimaced, as the man handed him a plate of mush. "Billy, you consider this food that can be consumed by the human digestive system?" Vice poked at it with the fork on his plate.

"Bro, it's oatmeal, you've eaten it before." Billy growled, handing him a glass of water and some Advil. "This should help kill off the hangover." He mumbled.

Vice nodded, trying to avoid eye contact with the disgusting mass known as oatmeal. "Thanks a lot." He sighed. He'd just end up at the bar later anyway, it didn't really matter.

Billy smirked. "We're going after a new guy today, I got some nice leads. Who knows if we catch the guy, you might actually get to eat some beef..." Billy chuckled as Vice sat straight up, his eyes wide in delight. "We'll leave in a few hours, so get ready."

Vice pushed his plate away and got up leaving for the bathroom. "By all means, let's go as soon as possible." Vice joked.

The day turned out to be nothing but, walking, screaming, chasing, and a waste. Vice fell into his favorite bar stool and let his head fall onto the table. "Vice, what'll it be?"

Vice looked up at the older man, stocky, with short brown hair. "A shot of your best..." Vice growled, handing the man his money card.

"Shouldn't you say shots?" The man laughed. Vice was clearly not amused.

"Just one for now, I need to make my rounds, remember Jack?" Vice looked back at him with a smug grin on his tanned face.

"Yes, yes, how could I forget about Vice's famous rounds? Honestly, you get a girl every time you come here, how do you do it?" Jack shook his head in amazement.

Vice laughed. "No woman is immune." He took the shot glass from Jack's hand and drank it down. Squinting, he shook his head and placed the glass on the table. "Good." He smiled in acknowledgment. "I'll be back in a little while..." Vice took his card back and placed it in his suit pocket. His blue coat and pants went along with his white shirt and black tie. His took off his coat placed it on his stool and rolled up his sleeves, just above his elbows. He walked around heading

towards the dance floor. People swayed from side to side, bumping against one another the adrenaline pulsating through their bodies. The band was loud, keeping a steady beat. Vice leaned against a poll and glanced around. His eyes fell across the room on a girl with long red hair. He smiled and bowed his head for a moment before walking across the dance floor in her direction.

"Well, if it isn't the scumbag himself!" Vice was jerked backwards as someone ripped at his hair. "You bastard!" A sharp slap crossed his face.

Vice yelped and held his hand to his face. He peered out of his left eye to look at a girl with short brunette hair and dark colored eyes. "Karen, is that you?" He was in luck; at least he knew her name.
