The morning sun was what had woken me up that morning, the birds were chirping above us and Alexander was sleeping still. I looked over at Isabella who was slightly shifted from her position last night. Hope rose up inside me and I checked for a pulse, it was so faint, but it was there. Why would she be Changing so quickly? The book said weeks, if not months, and it had only been a day. Normal Vampires would only take hours, original vampires, humans who were infected with the disease and not bitten, went through the longest change. Three months. I remembered my three months were terrible. The pain was almost unbearable. I felt every cell in my being drastically altered. It was like sitting in a fire. Your body burned constantly, your muscles contracted and spasmed, the Venom altering them, making them stronger, and more advanced. I never turned anyone, I never knew if someone would go through the pain that I did, but even through my blood thirsty haze, I felt compassion. I had been infected with the disease years before the Outbreak, my mother, sister, and I took coverage in the sewage of the Palace, only grabbing a person a week. I hated who I'd become, but I lived with it. Then one night everything changed. My sister snuck from the sewage drain and bit as many people as she could. After almost two hours, she had spread over half the Palace. When mom woke me up saying she had a terrible feeling, I didn't think it could be something so terrible.
Mom rose up above the newly infected Vampires and took her rule. I her son, the Prince, her daughter, the Princess, but my mother favored her, and chose her to rule. But unfortunately for her, that never happened. She tangled herself up with a Matched vampire and the angry wife tore her to shreds.
I looked over at Isabella and whispered her name,
"Isabella."
She shifted lightly and I jumped to my feet and back stepped away from her. Did she really just move? I rubbed my eyes forcefully and walked a step to her and towered over her.
"Isa-"
Her arm swung out and knocked my feet from under me. I fell back, shocked, I jumped up quickly only to be knocked down, her body on top of me pinning me down.
"What did you just call me?" She growled out. Her eyes were blood shot, and a small stream if drool dropped from her mouth.
"Isabella" I whisper. She narrowed her eyes at me and then started to lean in. I didn't know what to think, my stomach started to burn and I started to struggle against her, but she was stronger than me. She bent her neck and placed her mouth on my neck and breathed in deep. She breathed out slowly from her mouth and I shivered, she licked up my neck then stopped.
"It was you" she growled out. "It was you who my mother made a deal with, it was you who killed my father, it was you who killed him. You killed Peter!" She brought her arm back and punched me in the face. Her fist collided with my nose painfully and a surge of anger rushed through me. She wanted him. Just as I had feared. I rolled us over to where I was on top of her with her hands pinned above her.
"He wanted you Isabella. He didn't want to love you, he wanted to use you!" I yell in her face. She lets out a growl and arches her back, struggling to get out from under me.
"I want him too!" She yelled, crying, trying to get from under me.
I falter a little and stare down at her.
"Well he's dead." Tears spring from her eyes and she looks up at me, her lips tremble and I can see hatred in her eyes.
"I can't believe you" she whispers. Pain swells in my chest and I climb off of her. She stays on the ground and I walk away from her. I untie Alexander and climb onto his back, and start to gallop away. There's no chance getting her. There's no way for her to possibly ever love me, her mind, was set on him.
I looked behind me once I was farther away from her and expected her to be gone. She wasnt, she was curled up in a helpless ball, and for a second I forgot she was a Vampire. She still looked so small and frail, so innocent, and really, she still was. I turned Alexander around and walk over to her, she looked up at me, her eyes still blood shot, her lips dry, and color leaving her face.
"Let's go find you something to eat." I say. She looks down and fiddles with the blanket.
"I don't need your help" she says standing up.
"Sure you do" I sweep her up and sling her onto the horse and gallop away. She struggles for a minuet and almost falls off so she instead clung to me tightly. "Don't worry, I got you" I whisper.
"Where are we? She whispers lightly, sounding so scared, so helpless.
"The middle of the woods, probably near your house somewhere" She stiffened when I said her house.
"Can you take me to my house?" I shrug and steer Alexander in the area of her house. She curls up to me tightly and shivers. She was so beautiful, her hair was so soft and her skin was starting to brighten.
Before long we stumbled across her house and she stared at the front door.
"Wait right here, I'll be back" she says. She climbed from the horse with my help and I watch as she walked slowly up to her house. Part of me was scared that she would try to kill herself again, but in order for her to do that, she'd have to tear her own head off.
I sat on the horse for what felt like forever when she came out wiping blood from her mouth. Realization dawned on me. She wanted to see her mother, she wanted to settle things with her mother, and she did. I jumped off of Alexander and ran to her, there was blood all over her face and shirt, she looked up at me with satisfaction.
"I think I'm pretty good at this whole vampire thing." I look at her and chuckle, then walk inside her house. She follows behind me and stops outside her room when I walk in.
"How do you know where everything is at?"
I grab her a shirt and throw it to her, then grab a bag out of her closet and stuff it with clothes.
"I would visit you alot."
"What do you mean?"
"When you where little I would come and see you, when you where little I would see your beautiful brown eyes, then when you were older, I only visited you at night."
"At night?!" She sqreeched out. I chuckled lightly and nodded my head.
"Yes at night, don't worry, I never did anything besides kiss you and bite you." Her hand flew up to her neck and then her lips. "I never kissed your lips, only your hand and forehead. I've always wondered what your lips would feel like on mine" I whispered. She looked at me then touched her neck.
"What do you mean you bit me?"
"Come here, I'll show you" I whisper. She walks slowly to me and I take her hand, she looks down at me when I pull her sleeve up. I breath on her skin and lightly kiss the soft skin on the inside of her arm. I pull away and the black mark swirls to the surface. When it's finally clear she sits down on the bed next to me.
"What is that?"
"It's the mark I gave you the day you were born" I say. She touches it lightly then looks at me. She lightly parts her lips and starts to lean in, I close my eyes and want to finally feel her soft lips, I can feel her warm breathe on my lips and her nose touches mine, then she stops and pulls away.
"I-im sorry, I need to go." She walks out of the room and I stay sitting on the bed. I bring my head down into my hands and rub my eyes, this wasn't going the way I ever wanted it to.
