After four more tortures hours of school it was finally lunch. As soon as the bell rang the girls and I jumped right out of our seats and practically sprinted out of class to the cafeteria. What can I say? We love to eat. Food is the ultimate companion.
We each got a cheese burger, fries, soda and chips. We take our food and go outside. During our freshman year we found this table at the back of the school and we claimed it ours. It's quiet and secluded. The perfect place for us.
We sit down and start digging in. We talked about our day and how much we hated calculus and Mr Smith. His life goal is to make math harder than it already is, I swear. Everything was normal until we heard a big commotion coming from the cafeteria. Curious, we left our stuff, knowing that no one comes back here anyways, and headed towards the noise. Once we got there what we saw left us stunned and frozen in place.
The four new boys were going on a rampage inside the cafeteria. There was trash everywhere, tables and chairs were flipped and a lot of scared looking students were huddled towards the back. We gasped and the guys turned to look at us. I stared dumbfounded and a little frightened. Their eyes weren't their normal color but a yellowish-golden color. The way they were looking at us gave us the chills and the emotions running through their eyes were undefinable.
Once they saw us standing in the doorway they rushed over and hugged us. Still shocked, we just awkwardly stood there. I mean we just met these guys today and now they're hugging us. The girls and I made eye contact silently asking what we should do. One thing for sure is that they have a lot of explaining to do.
After a couple of minutes their breathing was back to normal and they backed away just enough to look at us but we were still in their arms. When I looked at Jace I was met with his beautiful brown eyes. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, glad that they were somewhat back to normal. Once the girls and I were assured that they were calm and somewhat normal we all but shoved our way out of their arms and stood in front of them with our arms crossed and a blank look on our faces. We stared at them waiting for an explanation and they scratched the back of their necks nervously.
Our little moment was interrupted with the cafeteria doors being once again slammed open. "What the hell is going on here?" our new principal, Mr. Torres yelled. Poor man just started this job this year and has to deal with this. The middle aged man looked really mad but when he saw the four boys he just sighed and said to go and wait for him in his office. They sighed in defeat, hung their heads and left the room but not before taking one more look at the girls and I.
"I hate to ask this of you girls but do you mind cleaning this mess up? The janitor just left for a family emergency. Talk about great timing," he said chucking at the end. The girls and I hesitated before answering. Mr. Torres must have seen our hesitation because he added, "I'll excuse you from the rest of your classes." I made eye contact with everyone then nodded and said ok. He said thank you and left to I'm guessing his office. The girls and I looked around and groaned. At some point during the commotion everyone must have taken off. All that was left was a huge mess.
We walked back outside to our spot to get our stuff. I was honestly pretty mad that I didn't get to finish my lunch but I guess I could eat later since my classes are now excused. 10 minutes later the girls and I were hard at work trying to clean this disaster. "Damn I wonder what got into those guys. I've never seen anyone lose it like that," Jess said while flipping some of the chairs. "Yeah they seemed really chill earlier and what was with the hug?" Dani replied while picking up trash.
"Well speak of the devils." Claire said while helping me flip a table. Standing in the doorway were the four idiots themselves. After staring at us for a minute I had enough."You know you could help us." I yelled over to them. They all rushed over like puppies with their tails between their legs. Without saying a word we all got to work. We could get an explanation after we got this place looking decent again. Within 30 minutes we were done and now it's time to talk.
