The blue of the sky, darkens
Voices hiss out from its corners
Night, quietly engulfs the known
And replaces it with the
fearful unknown.
The old, wooden staircase creeks
The alarm of unknown news
Your heart, in its reply
Pounds wildly, out of your chest.
Your widened eyes, focus
On the unknown
Only to find darkness around.
Your brain forces you into silences
Your heart shouts out aloud
Night quietly looks at you
Notices your naïve thoughts
About the unknown which she placed
And slowly giggles darkly
At your frayed, cowardly self.
You close those wide open eyes
Keeping the unknown out
Of your soft childish mind.
But never do you realize
That fear lingers within you
Not by seeing
But by keeping out
The unknown from your soul
Which gulps down your sight
To see light in darkness.
Eventually you start to look at night
In its fearsome eye
And laugh that fear out
Free yourself off the chains
That the unknown captured you with.
As your heart, gets brave enough
To let the unknown in
It instead of inducing fear
Fascinates your mind
With rich colors that enhance
Your vibrant, young life.
