Little David's Big Faith

Little David's Big Faith, 1 Samuel 17

"Hahaha! Nobody can beat me! Not even one Hebrew soldier is brave enough to face me. I am the champion!"

"Can your God do anything to save you?" Goliath said

The other side:
Goliath keeps insulting us. Nobody in our army can fight that huge guy. Not even my dad who is a brave soldier! Are they all afraid of him?

Every afternoon, Goliath comes down to the valley and challenges King Saul to send a soldier to fight him.

"That giant is shouting again! What are we going to do now?" King Saul said

For forty days now we have stood our ground in this war against the Philistines.

They are camped on a hill across the valley.

But every time this giant shows up our soldiers start running back to our camp on the hill.

"Send one man to fight me and if you win, we will be your slaves. But if I win, you will all be our slaves! Haha!" Goliath said in full of confidence..

The other side:
This is really very sad. I wish I were big and brave enough to fight Goliath. But, I ... er, ah.. I hide under our supplies whenever Goliath comes near..

"I will fight you! I am not afraid, I will fight you, Goliath!'

The other side:
Someone from the crowd is shouting. Who is this boy shouting back at the giant? Does he want to fight with Goliath? But he's too small! And Goliath is over nine feet tall! This boy must be kidding..

This shepherd boy looks familiar to me. I'm sure I have seen him before. Oh, yes I remember. He left some supplies with the man beside me just a few moments ago. He said he had some food for his older brothers who are soldiers.

But he is just a boy. Yes, he's bigger than me, but boys can't go to the war yet. If I remember it right, he said his name is ...

"David. I am David, son of Jesse."

King Saul summons David and orders him to speak.

"I am not afraid of that giant because I know God will help me." David said

The King's guard can't help laughing at David. "Ha! Ha! Ha! He's not strong enough to fight that giant. He's too small to fight even an ordinary man."

"I have killed lions and bears to protect my sheep. I will also kill this giant because he says bad things about my God." David's added

"Dress David with the best armor and give him the best weapons! He will fight Goliath for us!" King Saul

"Hurray!"

"Finally, someone will fight Goliath for Israel!"

The other side:
I must pray for David. I am afraid for him. How can a young boy fight an enemy seven times his size? He has hardly any muscles in his arms!

But wait! Why isn't he wearing armor? And why is he picking stones from the stream? Is he fighting Goliath without weapon?

"Put on the armor, David!"
"Take a sword or a spear!"

The other side:
It looks like the armor and sword are too heavy for David! Let's run up the hill to get a good view of the fight. Oh, my! There is Goliath shouting again!

"Will no one fight me?! Are you all afraid of me? Will your God not help you to fight me?!" Goliath

"I will fight you in the name of my God!"
David

Goliath looks suprised to hear a small voice answer him.
"Huh? Who said that?" Goliath

"You?! A small shepherd boy will challenge me? You must be joking, hahaha! I will crush you quickly and you all will be our slaves!" Goliath said while pointing his finger to the little boy

The othet side:
Slave? I don't want to be a slave. Letting David fight Goliath must be a mistake! He has no chance of winning ..

Meanwhile, David pulls out a weapon.

Hurray! I knew he had some kind of a magic sword to make him so brave. C'mon David, pull out your ....

Slings!?

Just an ordinary sling? How can he kill a giant with a sling?!

"You think you can beat me with a sling?! Prepare for your death, shepherd boy!" Goliath

Oooops, that was close!
Run, David! Don't let Goliath cath you!

David moves quickly with all the skill of a shepherd boy. "I'll bet he's fearless killing lions and bears!"

Goliath is shaking with anger. He has thrown all his spears and now moves toward David with his huge sword. It's even bigger than David! Now David makes his move. But still I can't imagine how he can defeat Goliath with a sling. He pulls out one stone from his pouch and puts it into his sling.

"You come to me with a spears and swords but I come to you in the name of the Lord God Almighty. I will defeat you and cut off your head because my God will help me!" David

David takes his aim..

Goliath moves even closer..

David hurls his sling ..

The other side:
I'm so nervous I can't breathe. It's like everything around me stopped. There it is! A stone! Flying from David's sling, a stone hits Goliath between his eyes. "Pow!"

Goliath staggers and falls down. Thud!

I can't believe my eyes! But ..

It's not over yet! David runs toward Goliath and takes the giant's sword. He lifts the sword and slices it through Goliath's neck. Oh my! I can't look now! I don't want to see all the blood. I don't know what will happen next.

My eyes are shut but I hear my friends beside me shouting."We won! We won! The giant is dead! Glory to God!"

I now open my eyes .. Everybody's running towards the Philistine camp! Our enemies are running away! Run, run, run! Yipeee! We are not afraid anymore. God gave us the victory! And He sent the boy David to win this fight for us. What a victory! Glory to God!

My revelation about this story;
Not because you are small, your age? not means your not even capable to do all things. God is with us, He will never let us to be alone of all the battles in life. He is our guidance, Our shield! So guys, if you feel that you are afraid that's not from God, because Jesus is the God of Love.

Isaiah 41:10, "Fear not for I am with you,Do not be afraid for I am your God, I strenghten you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
