Chapter 10: The Dance

"Oh. Well that's awful! Of course you can take a dress. Here. Look in the back room with all the stunning dresses. If you find one pick it out, try it on, and love it.", Betty said.
"Thank you so much Betty. What do I owe you?"
"Nothing. Not a single dime. Just bring them back in good condition. So it's basically a rent. Now let's go find you guys your dream dresses!", Betty exclaimed and as she shoved us to the back.

"It's perfect!", Claire stated as she walked out the dressing room in a salmon pink vintage dress with buttons coming up the back and lace at the bottom of the dress.
"It's so pretty on you! Is that the one?", Betty asked.
"Yes. I love it so much!", Claire said. I suddenly walked out the dressing room as silence greeted me. There mouths were hanging open so low they could of touched the ground. I was wearing blue shoulder hanging dress with a lace bottom. Buttons came running up my back at a stop at my neck. "I love it! I love it! I love it!! I.... I.. I'm speechless.", I said. I turned around feeling like a princess my mind was convinced. This was the dress. My fantasy was interrupted as a blaring ringing noise.
"It's Jackie! What do I do?" My phone was vibrating.
"Answer it!", Claire said. I quickly answered the phone. "Hey!! What's up?", I asked.
"I went to the Coffee Bean and you guys weren't there."
"Oh sorry. We finished early so we went to Walmart for some groceries then we headed of  to the library. We should be back in 45 minutes.", I said.
"Ok. See you then."
"Wow. That was hard. Okay let's hurry and find a dress for Jackie than get out of here!", I exclaimed to Betty and Claire. It took us about 25 minutes to find the dress. We finally found it. A black, short cap sleeve dress with white trim of lace at the neck and bottom. We automatically knew she would love it.
"Thanks Betty! They will be back here tomorrow at 8 am in good condition! Bye!", Claire stated. We ran out the door running down the street to the school.

"Jackie open up!", Claire and I shouted as we banged on the door. It was five o'clock. Only two hours until the dance. Jackie opened the door and we shoved the dress in her hands. She stared at it then at us. She gave us a big hug laughing. "Guys!"
"Less chat more dressing. The dance is in two hours!", Claire yelled. We frantically moved around the room. In at least in a hour we were ready. Hair, toes, fingers, face everything! We looked at each other . "We look so good!!"
"The bomb"
"Better than Paige that's for sure."
"Let's go", I said. We walk out the door. We grab arms and start walking to the gym.

"I'm not ready dude!! I mean I'm wearing a tux, but my hair!", Kaleb said.
"You look fine. Just um. Here put these on.", he gave Kaleb his beats. He put them on now feeling confident.
"Okay let's go."
"Dude you forgot your pants."
"Coming." After getting his pants on, Kaleb and his friend start walking to the gym.

"Girls! We look totes adorbs! Those girls probably won't find any other beautiful dresses like these! Let's go!", Paige told her girls. They flipped their hair then walked to the gym.

The gym was filled with balloons, crazy lights, girls and guys dancing, food etc. I looked for hot cocoa but to my sight there was none😔. I look once more but for a different thing- Kaleb. He came up behind me putting his hands to my eyes.
"Hi.", I said taking off his hands.
"Hey. Uh this is for you.", he showed me a corsage. He attached to to my wrist." You look amazing.", he said.
"Thanks. And this is for you.", I pinned on to him the corsage I had for him. My friends in the background squealed.
"We are gonna be by the food. Leave you two alone.", Claire told us. She then dragged Jackie with her to the food table.
"What happened to your arm?", he pointed to the sling.
"Its a long story."
"Wanna dance if it doesn't hurt your arm?" he asked.
"Sure." We walked to the dance floor. Our favorite song was on.
"Drop it! That's my favorite song! Me too.", Kaleb and I stated in unison. We danced till our feet hurt. We decided to go sit with Jackie and Claire." You guys enjoying?", Jackie asked.
"It's so much fun!", I said. "Do you guys have date?", I asked them.
"Yeah. They are over there.", they pointed to the two guys at the do station dropping beats.
"Jett and Tyson? Great guys.", Kaleb said. As we were talking Paige came walking up to us.
"Hey babe."
"I'm not your babe Paige! Get  that through your head or wash your ears so you can hear me!", he yelled.
"Oh you. Do you like my dress?", she asked him staring straight at me.
"Um actually those are our dresses!", I said.
"Shut up! They're lying. Wanna dance Kaleb? I mean you are here with me right?" she asked.
"Listen. Paige. I'm not dancing with you and I never will. The only girl that I am here with is Skyker! She's pretty, loyal, kind, and way better then you will ever be. So stop trying to wedge yourself between us. I will never like you and I've never have. So leave me alone.", Kaleb said. He sat back down. Paige was super offended and walked away. Wow. The rest of the night was great. We danced and everything. During the dance he leaned in and kissed me. I was done. Wow. What a night.
