Dear Mia,
I want you to meet me by the river. You'll see why when you get there. 7 PM sharp.
Suhaileo.
The note read in Suhaileo's scrawly handwriting. Mia's heart jumped a few paces faster. But she was quickly calmed. She still wasn't sure if she wanted to give Suhaileo another chance yet.
Bianda came in hand in hand with Maurishio. Bianda giggled until she saw the note.
She came forward and snatched it out of Mia's nervous hand. She read it with mixed emotions ranging from angry, confused, annoyed and happy. Mia had a questioning look on her face.
"I'm angry because he wants another chance after what he did, confused because I don't know what he's going to do, annoyed because he doesn't get the hint that after what he did he shouldn't get another chance and happy because if this works, you'll be happy again." The kitchen door opened and Chris strolled in, along with Jessania and JD.
Bianda shoved the note back at Mia and walked over to Chris.
"Awe dude!" Bianda greeted him with a fist bump. It was their new greeting.
"We're going to watch Chucky. Wanna join?" Jessania said with pure excitement.
Bianda's eyes widened and she swallowed nervously. She shook her head and walked out of the door.
"Hey, let's do it!" Maurishio said. Everyone sat around the TV and Jessania popped the DVD in the DVD player.
                         **********
Bianda took a slow stroll to the stream nearby. She didn't feel like staying still, so she carried on walking until she appeared in front of the forest. This part of the foreat was the deepest and darkest... or that's what everyone believed anyway.
When Bianda was 7, she was sure she had seen a fairy. Of course, at this time, she was sure sugar was pixie dust. She had refused to eat sugar because "it killed the fairies and lessened their power".
Maurishio had always warned Bianda not to go into this part of the forest because it was easy to get lost and there were rumours that bears roamed these parts of the forest, although no one was really sure.
Bianda knew Maurishio would be angry, but he didn't need to know, did he?
She wandered into the forest.
Bianda had walked a few metres before stopping at the sight of what looked like a man.
He was standing in the moonlight, his skin a flawless white. His hair was a gelled mini mowhawk and he stared at the moon.
He took off his tank top which then revealed a set of large black wings. Not the wings of a bird, of an angel. Bianda had read about angels and dark angels as a hobby, but she had never really believed in it. Now she saw it for real.
She swallowed and the man turned and looked at Bianda as if he knew all along that she was there.
Bianda reversed and ran as fast as she could back to the house. But how could she outrun something with wings?
                              ********
Mia went outside and walked down the porch steps. She wondered where Bianda had disappeared to.
Mia read through Suhaileo's note again to make sure she was going to the right place.
She caught a taxi and told them the riverside was where she wanted to go.
Mia then thanked the taxi driver and hopped out. The taxi driver said that it was such a short trip, Mia didn't need to pay.
Mia looked down at her outfit. What if she was under - dressed?
She wore aqua blue All Stars, her favourite casual shoes. She wore skinny blue jeans, a plain white tank top and a black and green hoodie with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows.
Her hair was pulled up into a bun. Mia hitched her glasses a little higher and went to where most of the lights were.
There was a table with a silk white table cloth draped over it. Red candles propped in the middle showed where most of the lights had come from. Plates were on the two sides. Porcelain, it looked like. Suhaileo stood there, wearing a white buttoned shirt, the type that you wore under a tux jacket. He wore black tux pants, too. He had an undone bow tie around his collar. Altogether, he looked like a real rebel.
Mia approached him and she blushed.
"I'm under - dressed." She said, looking down to avoid him seeing her blush.
"You look beautiful. So beautiful you should be mine." Suhaileo said, pulling Mia's face so he could see her eyes.
They exchanged an embrace for a few minutes before Suhaileo gave Mia a red rose.
She smiled widely.
"Are you hungry?" He asked.
"Not really." She admitted.
"Good, cause I've got a better idea than sitting and eating dinner like old people." He said and took her hands.
"Let's watch the stars." Suhaileo said. Mia couldn't have smiled widely.
She checked her phone when Suhaileo wasn't looking.
No messages. That was weird. Usually Bianda would be hounding Mia with questions on how it was going so far. She dialled Bianda's cell.
It went straight to voice mail. Bianda's phone was never off. Ever.
This worried Mia heavily but she took her place by Suhaileo.
She thought of Bianda. Surely Maurishio wouldn't have let anything happen? She texted him.
Do you know where Bianda is? Mia asked.
No. She hasn't come back. Maurishio replied straight away.
Her cell is off. Mia informed him. She knew Maurishio would hunt for Bianda until he found her.
But Mia still worried. What if something happened?
Mia thought of where Bianda would go.
She wandered off in the direction of the stream but she wasn't there when Mia left so... that only left one possibility. The dark part of the forest.
Mia called it the dark part of the forest because most evil loomed there. She'd gone there once and promised never again. If Bianda had gone there... only the worst could have happened.
