Chapter Three:

I stared out the window as Emrys drove. I had originally protested to this but he refused to let me drive, claiming that he could smell the exhaustion seeping from my body. I new that meant he could also tell that I was depressed but he was kind enough not to mention that fact. I mentally slapped myself, how could I think a monster such as this was kind? My subconscious just had to remind me that I had saved that monster not even twenty-four hours ago.

“I can smell your emotions and I must say, you are bringing me down. Cheer up please my dear.” Emrys said with a smile on his face and I couldn’t help but let out a small threatening sound that reminded me of a growl. He just laughed at me and I slapped him on the arm with a small amount of my strength. Emrys just laughed and shook his head at me.

(Emrys Pov)

I couldn’t help but feel depressed about the fact that she was so upset. Ever since I saw her my heart was hers and that ticked me off more than anything. I couldn’t believe that I had frightened her so much and it killed me to think that I had almost hurt her. I had to get her away from that blasted place though, she wasn’t safe! She had no idea of the things that were after her! I saw a flash of black pass the passenger window and I simply reacted. I new it was a wolf because I could smell it so I screeched the car to a stop and quickly realized I was not the only one who noticed our admirer. Arianna had a dagger much like the one that had been imbedded in my shoulder not long ago in her hand. She motioned for me to stay put and I shook my head defiantly.

“Like hell!” I snapped and she turned to face me.

“YOU hired ME so that I could protect you! Now stay the hell in the car!” she screamed at me and it pained my heart but I nodded. She smiled triumphantly and moved gracefully out of the car. That would be when my worst fears came true, an entire pack of wolves slowly started to surround her. I slithered out of the car and stood a little to the side and out of sight. I saw one of the wolves lunge at her back when she wasn’t looking and my body seemed to move on its own accord. She turned around just in time for me to grab the wolf that was inches away from her. She let out a startled yelp of surprise and I threw the wolf into a tree, hearing the tree break. I noticed that the wolf stood back up and I realized that I was right, they were werewolves. I stood protectively around Arianna and she seemed to shrink back into me, realizing that these were out of her league since there were too many of them. I felt my eyes turn blue and my fangs slid out. I let out a string of growls and the wolves immediately backed up. I snarled at one who dared to take a step forward and he jumped back immedietly.

“Emrys I always new that you were pathetic, but a mortal? Really?” My ex girlfriend, Christina, chuckled and I wrapped my arms around Arianna protectively. I hated the way that Christina was looking at her and it made me want to tear that blonde head of hers off.

“Chrissy Cat, I suggest you look away.” I snarled and her eyes grew wide. I knew she knew that I had just given her true form away. Then her eyes seemed to fully take in both me and Arianna. Her eyes widened as she saw the look of possessiveness in my eyes and I hoped that she didn’t mention what it meant.

“Oh this is great Emmy!” She said cheerfully, much to my surprise. She started to walk forward but I stopped her with the roar that escaped my lips. Her eyes grew wide and she simply shook her head. She spun on her heal and walked away as I heard Arianna take a sharp breath of surprise and it seemed that all of the wolves had fallowed Christina when she had walked off. Arianna’s legs went limp and I caught her, pulling her into my arms bridal style. She whimpered and her eyes fluttered shut as she passed out in my arms.
