MADISON'S POV

I was never going back, that was one thing I had concluded.
Much like before, Toby, and many of my other friends threw themselves out the door and into the slender woods searching for me for countless... Days?? Yes... Days. They would come in groups, days at a time searching for me.
While I flew swiftly over-head. I could hear their conversations. It had been quite a while since the last time their little group came back to this part of the slender woods.... But I could remember everything so clearly...

~~~~ THAT DAY~~~~

" Toby, enough with your noisy whining! I'm trying to sleep!!" Growled an angry Jeff as he turned over in his sleeping bag.

Man, I really felt bad for them... They had no tent, and the bugs out here were furiously biting and bloodthirsty.

" but w-what if w-w-we never fi-nd her? S-she could be d-d-dead!! " he cried.
He was very worried about me. Once, he even sat at our stump. He cried.. For real...
He just wailed about how sorry he was. How he should have left clockwork alone and ran after me.
He wailed about how worried everyone had grown.

" GUYS!!! YA'LL BITCHES NEED TO SHUT UP I NEED MY BEAUTY SLEEP!!" I heard my cousin Marissa screech at the two arguing men. Ahahaha... I missed her.

Marissa then continued to pull her sleeping mask back over her eyes, mumbling under her breath. They had no idea I was listening... No idea I was just above these trees. Hiding among the branches.
I could hear every word they said..
Because along with my wings, and bleeding eyes, from when I was turned into my new self,
I had adapted to this lifestyle, so I had great hearing.
And for some odd reason, little horns sprouting from my head.

I swooped in for a closer look.

" oh. My. God. ShUt uP " shouted a distorted voice from the one and only Ben.
Ah yes, I remember... He was quite welcoming on my first day...haha...,
Calling me cute. Aw that little bugger it's so adorable.

Whatever we are now

All decided to finally shut up and fall asleep so they could continue their search again in the morning. They wanted me back.

But hell... I'm never going back.

It was now about midnight... I've been in this forest for about a year now.

I thought I'd never go back... Well, I concluded, I would never go back.
But I just wanted to mess with them, for a little fun.
Of corse I wasn't going to go inside and tell them " oh hey guys I'm back after being missing in the slender woods for a year haha yea lets forget that and be friends again"

I was going to toy with them.
So I flew over to the large mansion. Positive that everyone was sleeping at this hour.
So I got on the roof, walking and stomping loudly all over its top.
I'll leave them wondering what it is.

But, just then I heard the door opening from below.
Surely I had gotten their attention this quickly?!
So without taking chances I flew away. But got caught in a tree branch.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD... WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN!?!

I untangled myself and flew away. But I heard something fall to the ground and hit the crunchy autumn leaves below...
My necklace...
MY NECKLACE JUST CAME OFF!!

I began to swoop down for a quick grab and leave, but looks like the person who came out earlier.. Beat me to it.
Jeff... Standing there with his mouth agape as I hovered in air...
I was on a mission for my necklace..
He had it in his bleach-white hands.
Still staring

" ma....madison?"
He croaked

No....
He can't say anything to the others.
He can't let them know I'm alive
He can't let them know I'm still hiding out here

So with that, I swooped over and snatched my necklace back.
He grabbed my wrist in the process. I couldn't get away
He called for help as the others flooded from the house.
Staring at me

I continued struggling to get away, every once in a while I'd manage to get Jeff airborne as I try flying away. But others would just come and pull him back down.

This is so horrible.
Oh my god what will they say?
I'm obviously losing this one.

so I eventually just stopped for a second... Getting a good glimpse of my family.
Jeff lessened his grip.

" h-hey..."
My creeky and shy voice spoke.

Toby emerged from the group of people and took hold of my leg to pull me down.
He was successful.
I landed in the ground with a thud.

People crowded around me.
This isn't going well.

I quickly got up and flew away, back into the forest. Back to what my home had been for this year.
I don't want to see them again...
This was too awkward.

So, like many nights, I flew into a High tree, found a nice, firm branch, and layer down.
But this time, I cried.
I cried over what just happened

What if they find me again?
What if I'm not good enough anymore?
What If they manage to win me back?
What if they all hate me?

Questions flooded my never-resting mind... Though somehow that night I finally managed to sleep.
Im so screwed tomorrow.
