Those words linger in the air for what seems like an eternity. This can't be happening! What is going on! Are they ok?! I need to go see them!
"Are they ok?" I manage to say after a while.
"Mr. Hood, I think it's best if you got here as soon as possible so we can discuss the matter and their conditions face to face."
"Yeah, yeah ok I'll be there as soon as I can."
"I'm sorry to have to give you that information. Please, do just hurry."
"Ok...uhmm...h-have a nice day..." I say and click before she had a chance to answer.
I come back to the table and sit while the boys are laughing about a joke Ashton had said.
"Who was that?" Luke says between giggles.
"Uhm...it was Los Angeles Community Hospital..." I stay quiet for a second "Mali and my mom were in a bad car accident..."
The smiles on their faces fell off in an instant and went stiff as rocks. No one knew what to say so we stayed in silence for a good while. Finally Michael broke the silence.
"Are they ok?"
"I don't know...she didn't say. All she said was that I should get there as soon as I can."
"Well then, why are you still here? C'mon we can ditch class. I'll drive you." Ashton says
"We're all going." Luke says standing up and so does Michael.
"No, its something I have to do on my own."
"Cal, your mom took us in as her own. She's cared for us all. She's like a mom to me and I'm pretty sure the boys think the same," Michael says "we're going with you."
I nod and we head off campus and into Ashtons car. He turns on the ignition and my heart all of a sudden starts racing.
"C-can you crack a window open?" I say
"Yeah. You alright Cal?" Ashton says looking at me from the rearview mirror. He heads onto the road and starts driving.
I try to answer but I can't find my voice. And then, everything goes black.
When I get my sight back, its nothing but blurred and wet.
You're crying. My mind tells me. Well no shit Sherlock thanks for the info. I feel arms wrap around me.
"You're ok Cal, we're all here for you. They'll be fine." Luke says. "Babe, its OK. Shhh, take a breath calm down." He continues
I can't bring myself to look at him cuz of the tears spilling from me but I can tell by the way he's speaking hes crying too. The next half hour was the worst half hour I've ever had.
"Is ok babe... I promise it'll all be OK. Is ok. You're gonna be fine..." His words slowly fading to an echo.
