Some say the the world will end in fire, others say in ice. They say we will never be certain how it will all come crashing down, but I'd say it'd all end in a steamy burning mixture of the two. The hurt, pain, suffering, hell, the fire of the Earth mixing with the chilling scars, memories, and broken love, the icy longing in the world. These two, fire and ice, coming together, swallowing the world, causing people to be burned deep down right to the core of their being.
~ Chapter One ~
Louis closed his eyes, resting his head on the foggy, cold glass of the train window. He was finally relaxing a bit after the incredibly hectic morning he'd had. He'd spent the entire morning packing and trying to block the fear he had in the back of his mind. Louis didn't want to leave his cozy home where he'd lived his entire life surrounded by his family, but he really didn't have a choice anymore. He shook his head, cringing at the reason he wasn't allowed to be there any longer. Trying to block those thoughts, he turned his music up and tried to get some much needed sleep.
Louis awoke to an abrupt jerk as the train pulled into the station. He opened his eyes, letting them adjust before he stood up, looking around. This was his stop. He grabbed his bags and a map he had grabbed on his way to the train that morning. He walked down the small, crowded hall of the train finally making it to the door. He stepped off the train almost tripping from all the shoving people. He looked around, wondering what he was going to do now. He hasn't really thought this through to be completely honest. He had hoped deep down he'd get to stay back home, but clearly his family was having none of that.
Louis sighed heavily and picked up his suitcase and carried it over to an empty bench where he sat down and took out his phone. He thumbed a search into google maps looking for the nearest motel. When he found the cheapest one, he decided he'd take a taxi, get a room for a couple days until he used all the money he'd brought, then he'd have to figure out what to do from there. I mean sure it was risky, living in the middle of the city with no money, no job, and worst of all, Louis thought nervously, was the fact that Louis knew absolutely no one. He had no one to call anymore his family had changed their numbers. He'd been left completely alone, deserted and forgotten by them.
Louis shook those memories away, not allowing himself to get upset in public. He decided he'd save the cab money and just walk to the motel since it was only about three blocks away. He grabbed his things and headed towards the door.
He pushed open the heavy glass door, the cold November air chilling him, causing Louis to shiver, teeth chattering. He put his beanie on covering his soft brown hair and began to walk down the sidewalk, snow beginning to fall lightly as the sunset.
He walked for about 20 minutes until he finally found the motel. He pushed the door open walking up to the service desk waiting in line.
It wasn't what you'd call nice, but, Louis thought to himself, it'd have to do for the time being.
"May I help you" said the women sitting behind the counter. She was maybe 40, slightly heavy but not fat, she was decent looking she had a warm smile. Instantly Louis felt more comfortable. Louis always liked it when someone smiled at him, made him feel like he could trust them.
He walked up to the counter, setting his bags down. "Good evening" the women said "good evening" Louis replied "how can I help you" she asked him "uh I was looking at renting a room for a couple days" Louis said "any room is fine just whatever would be cheapest" he said as she typed something into the computer. "Lets see I have one room it'll be about $45 a night does that sound good?" She asked looking at Louis. Louis quickly did the math in his head. He could stay there for about a month like that. He decided he might as well he had no where else to go. "Yeah ill take it" Louis said as she typed away "I'll just need you to sign this you can pay when you decide to leave" she said handing Louis the key to the room after he'd signed the form. "Thank you" he said as he grabbed his bags and walked up to his room.
