Mr. Mikisugi sat across from the school principal, his arms folded and his shoulders tense. He was being questioned about Ruko Matoi. "Are you aware of her danger to the school and its students?" He asked, his face red with anger. "Yes, but she won't attack students..." Mikisugi was cut off. "And are you  aware that she has stolen from the school? She now has her scissor blade back and can use it to..." He stopped talking, knowing he was about to give something away. Mikisugi  raised an eyebrow and winked. She principal slammed his hand on the desk and shouted. "Get out, control your pet or leave." Mikisugi stood and exited the office, raging at his accusations. Ryuko wasn't a pet, she wasn't going to hurt anyone and he needed to know what was going on.

"Spying are we?" Mr. Mikisugi leaned against the wall, flicking a glance at the teen girl hiding behind a vending machine. "Damn it." Ryuko swore. "How did you..." He cut her off. "II know you." He spoke softly and walked away, worry in his eyes that he didn't want her to see.

"What's going on?" Ryuko shouted after her favorite teacher, but he didn't turn around. Either he was hiding something, or he was a coward. She stamped her red sneaker on the white floor and stormed awake, kicking over a trash can and checking to see if her blade was still in her bag. "I'll show them." She muttered as she went back to her dorm to plan an attack.

...

Mikisugi lay in bed that night, unable to sleep, still feeling the pain of the slap he had received, and the sharpness of the principal's words. He knew he couldn't protect her forever, but he would damn try.
