Prologue Story - Writer's POV
Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the Four Nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, the master at all four elements, and the Daleun, the Avatar's other half, could stop them but when the world needed him most, the Avatar vanished. The Daleun, unlike the Avatar, wasn't as remembered as their other half.
While the Avatar only had the power to control the four known elements, the Daleun could do those elements along with the element of darkness and light. The Daleun was the Avatar's other half for the Daleun was known for mastering the elements opposite of the elements that Avatar had masterd. Sometimes, the Daleun was the one that the Avatar fell in love with while other times they were close enough to be brother or sister. The Daleun is born into the element after the Avatar (for example, Aang is born Wind Nation while Mayumi is born Water Nation). When the Avatar had vanished, so had the Daleun, but not in the way one would think.
Then how did the Daleun 'disappear'? Out of sight, out of mind. The Daleun, known as Mayumi, knew who she was when she turned five and was told by the people she was staying with. Her real parents were no where to be found, so she was taken in by others. Mayumi was excited and, by the time she turned nine, was able to find Aang in the Southern Air Temple, though he didn't know he was the Avatar, and Mayumi was told not to speak of it.
Aang and Mayumi became very close together, which was no surprise at all, but nothing like liking one and other. More like siblings, teasing one and other or protecting each other. Every Avatar and Daleun had an animal or two they were close with, so why not Aang and Mayumi? Aang had Appa, the flying Bison, and Mayumi had the twin dragons, Chand and Ravi. They are brothers but opposites.
The two dragons are like Yin and Yang. Chand is the Yin side, being a pure black along with having a dark personality while Ravi is the Yang side, being a silver dragon with a happy personality. They spoke to one and other telepathy along with spoke to Mayumi and Aang the same way. Chand and Ravi also had the power to shrink down to the size of an adults hand, being able to go anywhere undetected, or become their full size, longer than the flying bison. Very useful.
Mayumi was turning fifteen when Aang was told he was the Avatar and that she was his other half. Guessing how he would have reacted, thinking that he would need someone to stay with him since Appa's too big to fit in his room, Mayumi sent Ravi to his room. She told the sensitive silver dragon to stay with Aang no matter what. She didn't know that Aang would have been taken away from Monk Gyatso to master the elements, nor that he would have ran away.
Feeling that his brother is too far away, Ravi staying with Aang secretively, Chand went after the runaway. Mayumi also went after them, telling the Monks she would find him, even though she really doubt she would be able to catch up to a flying Bison. In her travels, she was told about a large storm that would be able to stop anyone in their tracks. Mayumi paid no mind until she noticed that, from that point since the storm had passed, she had stopped aging.
Mayumi has been trying to find Aang, Chand, Ravi, and Appa since the time she couldn't age. She traveled quite a bit, being able to learn all her elements, but only being able to master water, wind, sound, and earth. She hasn't been able to find a fire bender that would be able to teach her and the only way she is able to use light and darkness is by singing, which she doesn't like to do.
A hundred years have passed when Mayumi found herself in the Southern Water Tribe, they welcoming the young teen without a second thought. No one bothered to see if she could bend the other elements, though Mayumi had doubted they would have in the first place. Mayumi had kept her powers secret, others thinking she was just a normal girl. She had been there for about two years, acting as if she had just turn fifteen, when her life started to light up...
