It was the sixties. The decade of The Beatles and smoking, hippies and free-thinkers, war and peace rallies. The world was changing, the revolution was beginning. My life in Liverpool was grey. Everything was monotone, life was repetitive. I was in my twenties, and I knew my life shouldn't be that way. I shouldn't have felt like the extent of my capability was there in that shipyard in Europe. I was to leave in only two day's time, though. I couldn't wait to leave this awful place, where everything was the same, and nothing was out of the ordinary. I needed something different. I needed a new place, new people, a new atmosphere. To my mother, I was going across the universe. To me, I was going to a new home, and I'd never have to look back.
