I woke up on my white bed that was hard and scratchy like hay. It was another school day as I sat up in the old, rusted hospital bed. I looked around my plain white room. There was nothing in my room but a bed, a light and a small window that you couldn't see out of because, it was painted over. I was in a room just like 29 others that had children ages 5 to 16. We were all stuck in a lab and our only parent was a scientist whom we called Dr. Flich, there were other scientist but they didn't run anything, just helped in the labs and with the kids. I got up and braided my tangles of hair. I put on my usual white uniform consisting of a plain white buttoned shirt, white pants and a white coat. I wore the same thing everyday so did everyone else. I slipped on my white shoes and chewed a piece of old gum I had stolen from one of the nurses. I walked out into the bright white halls of the children's floor. Many of the children were out roaming about. I spotted Daniel at the end of the hall. He always waits for me in the same spot. "Ready for breakfast" he asked. I shook my head popping my gum. We walked to the lunch room which took a good 25 minutes because the building was so big. Once we arrived I spit out my gum...because the taste had left long ago. We walked up to the breakfast machine and pressed the buttons, out popped a warm pancake and 2 sausages. We pressed another button for the syrup and butter. Technology these days were super advanced, and people no longer cooked. Machines and robots did the cooking for them. But no one said the food was good. I got a milk out of the fridge and sat down at the long spiraling tables. We sat in silence as we ate our soggy pancakes. There wasn't much to talk about at the lab. We mostly talked about the children that started disappearing every night. A new child would be missing and I would be happy that I got to wake up another day. I was especially happy when I would see Daniel at the end of the hall in the morning, knowing he wasn't taken either. We don't know why kids disappeared, and it wasn't our business but we were all scared. After finishing our food we headed to the classrooms, which were close. We sat down and studied while waiting for the nurse who taught us every Mondays and Fridays. The teacher came in a started the class with a few questions. "How do you kill a zombie" he asked. No one raised their hand because no one knew. "Good" he said. He then started telling us to never disobey the scientist and do as they say...Bla Bla Bla....They always said the same thing. Ughh I hate scientist.
