The streets of the city were very busy. Cars were cruising the streets on their way from or to lunch. People walked on the sidewalks going about their daily tasks.
No one seemed to notice the black cat that weaved its way around the busy humans in its way. Some were too distracted talking on their phones, or to each other.
The cat decided to save itself some time and stuck to walk of the buildings.
It turned down an alley, moving with the fluid grace of the feline species.
Just another day in the sea of many...
A girl pushed her way through the people as she ran to get to her destination.
"Excuse me! Sorry! Coming through!" She shouted as she manoeuvred through the bodies as best as possible. She looked to be in her late teens. She had brown eyes, framed by long dark lashes. She had nice face and light complexion, and her lips were full and a pleasing shade of pink. Her black hair was loose and fell below her shoulders. It was slightly curled.
She was wearing a white buttoned blouse and dark blue pants. She also had a red backpack on her slung on one of her shoulders.
She hurried along dodging bodies.
Damn! Why can't these people just make more room? She thought as she spun to avoid slamming into a group of people.
A couple minutes later, she was slowing down. Figuring that it was pointless to even exert herself, she started to go at a steady but conservative pace. No point in going home early to do next week's homework right?
She sighed as she swung her backpack onto her right shoulder. Come on Amy, just relax and go slow. It's Friday for crying out loud. You will have time to finish everything before the start of next week. Amy thought to herself.
She looked up at the sky and the clouds told of the chance of rain. Well it seems that tonight is gonna be a cool one, if those clouds release their load.
She shifted as she passed several boys who were laughing with each other.
A blonde one looked around at her as they passed. His green eyes sparkled with interest.
His friends' renewed laughter drew his attention back to his pals.
Amy smiled to herself as she noted that the streets weren't as busy as they were earlier. Wow, when I choose not to hurry that's when everything calms down.
As she was passing an alley, something caught her eye. She backtracked and looked down the alley. At first she didn't see anything, but something on the ground caught her attention. She looked down to see a small black figure sauntering down the alleyway.
It was a black cat. Completely black, that it looked like a living, breathing body of shadows.
Amy watched as it continued its leisurely stroll down the alley.
I wonder what such a nice looking cat is doing all the way out here in the city. I wonder if it's lost?
"Hey kitty!" Amy whisper in a sweet voice as she approached the cat. Calling it.
The cat stopped for a second then trotted down the alley.
"Hey wait. I just wanna see if you're lost." Amy pleaded as she tried to catch up to the cat.
It turned the immediate right and Amy hurried to see it would stop. As she made the turn and proceeded a couple steps, she saw the cat sitting on its haunches. As if it was waiting for her.
