Need - Chapter 52

Jamie had to go back to our apartment and get the car seat so we could bring our bundle of joy home. She's been staying in the hospital for two weeks and she's finally ready to come home. I didn't have to stay, however the maternal instincts have already kicked in and I couldn't leave her there without me.

Thankfully, she can be picked up out of the nursery and I can hold her in my arms while I'm sitting around at the hospital.

The door opens softly and Jamie's blonde head comes through, a wide smile on his face, "are you ready to go?" He smiles, "get her home as soon as we can?"

I nod and stand up out of the chair, cradling her in my arms in a protective way, "I'll just have to tell the nurse," I chuckle.

We walk past the desk and let them know we are leaving, sign a few pieces of paper and then walk through the doors, ready to start our new life together.

"Here we go baby girl," Jamie coos as we walk through the door to his apartment,

"This is your home Savannah," I smile, leaning down and kissing her forehead. The feelings running through me are too much to handle. I walk into the lounge room while Jamie takes our bags to our room and her papers to her room. I sit on the couch and hold her in my arms, tears springing to my eyes and falling down my face uncontrollably. They're tears of feeling clueless. Not sad tears, scared and nervous tears. I have no idea what I'm about to do and what lies ahead.

"What's the matter Jess?" Jamie says, running over to me and crouching in front of me, wiping the tears off my face with his thumb and cupping my face.

"I'm just so scared," I chuckle hopelessly, shaking my head.

"Hey, hey" He sighs, sitting next to me and pulling me and Savannah back into a hug, "it'll be okay, no need to be so scared. It's daunting but we'll be fine, and sure we won't know things but we'll figure them out. We've both got wonderful parents who can help us along the way,"

I tuck my head under his chin and squirm until I'm comfortable in the arms of the man that I love.

"Thank you," I sniff, "can we go and stay with your parents for a while?"

"When?" He asks, lightly rubbing my arm, "Just being here on our own seems too daunting,"

He chuckles and kisses the top of my head, "we can, but I think we should stay here for a bit. Just so she's used to it and knows this as home,"

"Okay," I nod, "that's fair enough. But will you be around here or out working?"

"I'll be around as much as I can," He says, "you know that,"

"I know," Jamie stands up and walks out towards our room or the bathroom, "but you're not around nearly as much as I'll need," I say incredibly softly, looking at Savannah's tiny little face.
