The group was first introduced in 2013 through the reality survival program Who Is Next: WIN as Team B, which consist of B.I, Bobby, Kim Jinhwan, Goo Junhoe, Song Yunhyeong, and Kim Donghyuk. Both Team A and B consisted of trainees of . Since Team B lost to Team A, they lost the opportunity to debut as , though they released three singles as "Team B".
In June 2014, Team B got another chance through another reality survival program called "MIX & MATCH" to create a seven-member boy band. B.I , Bobby and Jinhwan alongside with the winning members , Donghyuk , Junhoe , Yunhyeong and Chanwoo will debut as iKON in early 2015 .
They have finally made their debut on September 15th or more specific ' welcome back ' with their warm-up single entitled " "and iKON got their first win on September 26th 2015 against Red Velvet and Fly to the Sky . On October 1s , they release Rythm Ta and Airplane music video and upcoming songs will be Today and M.U.P
