Chapter 15

The next morning Loren comes out of the bedroom in changed clothes. Eddie is cooking in the kitchen shirtless.

Eddie: Morning beautiful

They kiss

Loren: Hey. You're cooking? Should I have the fire department on hold?

Eddie: Ha ha. Very funny.

Loren laughs slightly and begins looking around the room

Loren: Hey, have you seen my phone?

Eddie: Oh yeah it's over on the coffee table

Loren: Oh

She walks over to the table and picks up her iPhone. She sees she has an enormous amount of calls, emails, texts, and tweet.

Loren: Oh my god

Eddie walks into the living room with two plates of bacon and eggs and puts them on the table

Eddie: What's up?

They sit on the couch

Loren: Kelly keeps trying to get a hold of me. Oh and it looks like you tag me in something on Twitter

Eddie: Oh yeah you don't have to...

He goes to take the phone from her but she moves it away from him.

Loren: What?

Eddie puts his head on his thighs

Loren: EDDIE!

She hits his back

Eddie: You looked so cute

Loren: I look awful! I can't believe you tweeted this!

Eddie: You look cute.

Loren turns to him

Loren: I look drunk

Eddie: You were tired. That's all.

Loren: I am so going to get you back for that

Eddie: Mhm

They laugh

Eddie: Eat up before Kelly...

Suddenly Kelly comes in the room. Eddie throws his arms up.

Eddie: Unbelievable. Kelly, I'm not exactly dressed.

He is still shirtless. Kelly laughs.

Kelly: Good morning to you to. Loren we have to go.

Eddie: Kelly, she just woke up. Let her at least eat

Kelly: No time for food. There's too many things to go through before Loren leaves for your show later.

Eddie gets up and Loren grabs his arm to stop him from getting mad

Loren: It's fine babe. I'll just eat it later. I wasn't that hungry anyway.

He looks down at her. She looks up at him. Then he looks back at Kelly.

Eddie: Fine. But this is the last time Kelly. She shouldn't be doing all of this work with no food in her system.

Kelly: Ok. We'll get her a banana for later.

Eddie shakes his head. Loren gets up.

Loren: I'll see you later.

She kisses his cheek and walks out with Kelly.

Eddie sits back down and sighs. He leans forward to eat his food but changes his mind and pulls his phone out and dials Jakes number

Jake: Edwardo! You ready for your show tonight?

Eddie: Yay ecstatic. Listen Jake that's not why I'm calling.

Jake: Oh, ok. What's up?

Eddie: I want you to become Loren's manager.

Jake: What?! Eddie. Man. Where did that just come from?

Eddie: Kelly is so wrong for Loren. She pushes her to do things she doesn't want to, she didn't even let her eat just now with me before barging in and dragging her to god knows where.

Jake: Loren's gotten big this past year. Kelly's just doing her job as her manager.

Eddie: Loren should be with you Jake. Please, I mean you've said yourself how crazy talented she is. Why can't you just do it?

Jake: It's not my place dude. She'd have to first get out of her contract with Kelly, deal with that mess, and then deal with the press picking it up. Not to mention the lawyers and heaven forbid Kelly were to sue. It would take a lot of time before I would be able to even legally book her at the strip mall.

Eddie: Just try something Jake!

He hangs up on him and throws the phone down next to him.

Max and Nora are sitting out on the balcony of their hotel room when Jake enters

Max: Hey Jake. What can we do for you?

Jake sits down

Jake: I just got off the phone with Eddie and he basically demanded that I become Loren's manager.

Nora sits up

Nora: Did something happen with Kelly?

Jake: Nothing other than the usual but Eddie thinks she just isn't meant to be her manager anymore.

Nora: I've kind of always agreed, personally. I mean it's been a year and Loren's been doing great but some of the things I've seen Kelly try to get her to do... It's just not who Loren is.

Jake: That's exactly what Eddie said.

Max: So why don't you sign her Jake? I mean there isn't anyone I trust her with more than you as her manager. Just as long as you don't pressure her 24/7 for new material.

Jake: Hey, that's only because the label breaths down my neck

Max: Mhm.

Nora: So what would we have to do to start the process of having you become her manager?

Jake puts his arms up.

Max glares at him

Jake: Ok. Let me call my lawyer and see what he can do. In the meantime, try to calm our boy down alright? I didn't appreciate his tone.

Max and Nora laugh

Max: Will do.

Nora: Thank you Jake.

Jake nods and gets up and leaves. Nora and Max go back to enjoying the sun.
