The Big Girl's Savior

Chapter 1

Ravens POV

"No. Please, I'm sorry. PLEASE DON'T!" I said as his hand connected to my face, slamming me onto the hard kitchen floor.

"Get yo fat ass up and make me some food."

I lifted my body off the floor and did as he said. "That's what I was trying to do," I mumbled under my breath. Suddenly I felt my head being yanked back by my hair. I winced at the pain.

"The fuck you say?"

"I ain't say nun," I said through clenched teeth.

"That's what I thought. I swear you be tryin' my patience Raven. Keep mumbling shit under yo damn breath and see what happens," he said letting go of my hair and shoving me away.

"I'm so sick of this shit," I mumbled, once again, under my breath as I prepared his plate for breakfast. As I turned around to give him his food, his hand wrapped tightly around my throat causing me to drop the plate. He lifted me up by my throat until my feet no longer touched the floor. I tried to claw at his hands, but I was beginning to see stars. "Darryl, I-I can't be-bre.." His hand was wrapped around my throat so tight, I couldn't form words.

When I was close to unconsciousness he let me go. I fell to the floor coughing and gasping for air. "I gotta get to work. Clean this shit up," he said stepping over me and the food scattering everywhere.

For a long time I just laid there, thinking. Thinking about the good times we use to have. I shut those thoughts down quickly, telling myself not to go there. I finally peeled my body off the floor and cleaned up the kitchen. After cleaning up, I walked to the other side of the small apartment and entered the tiny, but livable bedroom.

I brushed my teeth and quickly showered then dressed myself in a simple white shirt with a red cover up, and blue jeans. I slipped on my sandals, threw on a necklace and made my way towards the front door. I grabbed my purse and keys to the apartment off the table and walked out, shutting the door behind me.

From there all the way through the bus ride, I mentally prepared myself for what I was about to do. After getting off the bus, I took a deep breath and walked through the doors of the New Orleans Police Station.
