Narrator's POV-
Crickets chirped as the moon rose over the horizon, putting the sun to rest for another night. It was a cold night as a breeze made leaves and trees of the old forest dance. Stars flickered in the sky illuminating the grassy ground below. A figure rose from their resting position near a tree, looking around with its seemingly glowing (E/C) eyes.
Once they saw that the coast was clear, the figure stood up and yawned. "Well, that was a nice little cat nap...." They whispered to themselves. Their (F/C) fur dancing slowly with the breeze. Distant thunder was heard, catching the cat's attention as clouds made their way over the dimly-lit sky, covering the shining stars and part of the silver moon.
"Looks like it's gonna rain... i should probably go find a place to call home for the night..." The (F/C) cat got up and started walking around and into the forest near them.
Your POV-
You looked ahead as you walked throughout the softly illuminated forest. 'Hmm... there's gotta be a place around here somewhere.' You thought when you suddenly jumped up at the sound of roaring thunder close by. Even though you liked the rain, thunderstorms have always scared you since you were a kitten. Mainly since there was a forest fire caused by lightning, destroying the place you called home and leaving you to wander around aimlessly for a couple months.
You started to quicken your pace as the clouds started covering the entire sky. Your (F/C) paws got wet when you ran through a small stream, heading towards a forest clearing where you thought something was hidden. A few moments later, as the rain slowly started, a worn out building came into view. It looked like an abandoned theater, but since the building was in its condition you weren't quite sure what it was.
'Better than nothing i guess...' You grunted at your thoughts when the gentle rain made its way into your muddy pelt. Cautiously and quickly, you made your way up the building's steps to the large door. 'Yep, it definitely looks like a theater.' The door slowly creaked as you opened it slowly with your paw. Once the door was open, you looked inside. It was dark and the smell of wood and ashes filled your nostrils. Ashes? Weird.
You stepped inside the old theater slowly and cautiously. When your small cat figure was inside, the door suddenly slammed behind you, causing you to jump and almost shriek. You swiftly turned around to look at the door, hoping to see something through the darkness. Nothing was there.
As your gaze adverted back to where you were previously looking, soft blue lights... or were they flames? You weren't sure... dimly lit the theater you thought was abandoned.
A purple pelt caught your attention. A creature was in front of your figure, admiring your precious (E/C) eyes and the curious but scared look on your face. You looked at the dimly lit figure, looking at it's every detail. They looked like a cat with purple and cream fur, with dark eyes and white pupils. They had a mask marking on their face with plum colored spots. The cat's ears were a plum color, as well as their arms and part of their tail. The feature that stood out to you was the bow on their neck, it was dark with stripes and dots that covered it.
The cat smirked at you when you gazed back into their eyes. "Hey there~! Welcome to the show!" The cat chirped a greeting, "The name is Masquerade~ we weren't expecting guests at this hour...." Masquerade turned as the lights flickered on to reveal more of the old theater, with other creatures inside. You could also see the rain pounding on the windows as lightning flashed. Your (F/C) pelt pricked up when you saw the flash, but went back down when Masquerade turned back to you.
"So what's your name, stranger?" The cat snickered a bit as they smiled.
"(Y/N).... My name's (Y/N)." You gave a soft smile to them. "(Y/N), huh?" Masquerade smiled.
"Nice to meet ya (Y/N)! We're going to have lots of fun at the show~!" The cat actually gave a welcoming smile, that seemed strange to you.
