TLH2: Chapter 8

Ivan's POV

"Mabuti naman at napapapayag mo na ang Triveia to be one of our partners."

Iniwas ko ang tingin ko kay Dad na mukhang masayang masaya siya ngayon. Bukod sa naging partner na ng CLS ang company nila Eunica, unti-unti na din nanunumbalik ang CLS. Unti-unti na din itong umaangat. But most of all, napapagamot na din namin si Mommy. After pumayag ni Ethan sa partnership na hinihiling ko ay agad na pinadala ko si Mommy sa Amerika para maagapan ang sakit niya. I know her condition is worst but I don't lose hope. I know masusulusyunan pa din iyon. I won't let my Mother die without even fighting for her life.

"Sa wakas may nagawa ka na ding tama, Ivan."

I smiled wryly. Tama nga ba ang ginawa ko? Lingid sa kaalaman ng mga magulang ko ang tungkol sa annulment. I agreed on signing the annulment papers in exchange for the partnership. For the freaking partnership! I have no choice. Kailangan ipagamot ang Mommy. Hindi ko kakayanin kung wala akong gawin at basta nalang hayaan siyang lamunin ng sakit niya. I was torn between my family and Eunica. I guess blood is thicker than water. I know I've made the stupidest mistake in my life.

"How's Mom?"

Pag-iiba ko ng usapan kay Dad. We're currently having a video chat. Naiwan siya sa Amerika para mabantayan si Mommy habang umuwi naman ako sa Pilipinas para sa Partnership Signing ng CLS at TGC. Matagal-tagal na din na hindi ko nakikita at nakakausap si Eunica. And I must admit, I miss her so much. I want to kiss her lips again. I want to feel her body against mine.

"The Doctor said that her body is responding to the medication. They will just run some few more tests to confirm her situation."

A pang of relief strike through me. Kahit papaano may nadudulot na maganda ang naging desisyon ko. The only problem that I have is Eunica. I still want her back. Whatever it takes. Katahimikan ang bumalot sa amin ni Dad bago nito binasag.

"I just heard the news."

I turned my eyes to the screen. I just stared at my Father waiting for him to continue.

"S-Si Eunica ba ang nawawalang anak ng mga Sanders?"

Nagulat ako sa sinabi ni Dad. I looked at him questioningly. Paano niya nalaman? The Sanders were very private when it comes to their identity and personal life. Kaya impossible na basta basta nalang malaman ni Dad ang tungkol du'n. The reason why nalaman ko ang katotohanan about kay Eunica was through Yanna's friend, Camille Fernandez. I overheard their conversation ng minsan na dumalaw ako kanila Yanna. At simula nu'n, I hired the best private investigator para malaman kung totoo nga ang mga narinig ko and everything was true.

"P-Paano niyo nalaman?"

Nawala bigla si Dad sa screen at bigla nalang bumalik. Iniangat niya ang isang magazine. Isang popular magazine worldwide. At kahit ako ay nagulat sa nakita ko. It's a family picture of the Sanders. They were the front cover and the month's issue of the magazine. Ngayon ko lang nakita ang buong pamilya nila. But my eyes were only stuck to one person. My heart begins to race. She's way too different from the past. Ibang-iba na si Eunica ngayon. As I looked to her, she holds too much dignity and strength. Her face shows superiority. But behind all that, she was still beautiful as ever. Her eyes are still the same. Bright and expressive. Nevertheless about her changes, my feelings for her are still here. Para itong hindi nawala. Natatakpan ng galit pero siya din mismo ang nagtanggal nito.

Isinantabi na ni Dad yung magazine.

"Yes. She was." Simpleng sagot ko.

Nanahimik si Dad at parang may malalim na iniisip. When he turned his sight back at me, may nakita akong pagsisisi sa mga mata niya. And I can't explain why. Nangunot ang noo ko.
