"Just do it, don't think."
Kelly took a deep breath, pressing her lips into a tight line. Her muscles and bones are tingling as she stepped into the ledge. Her hands pressed against the glass door behind her. She dare to looked down which was very bad idea, she thought after. She took a deeper breathe again and again while telling herself that third floor is not that high. "Yeah, it's not that high." She chuckled nervously. "Pfft! It's just jumping from . . . a really not high place." She started pushing herself but she just can't do it. "Okay. One, two-" she stopped when she heard voices from the room behind her.
"Check the window." One voice said. Kelly cursed and as the curtain opened, she quickly pushed herself and dive through the space. Her eyes closed when she landed in a dumpster. She gagged by the awful smell as she pulled herself up.
She looked up at the window; the man earlier was trying to jump to her direction. She closed the dumpster and tightened the strap of her backpack and proceeded running again. She crossed streets to streets and alley to alley. But the hope that she'll lose the men after her was impossible. The same car that had been chasing her for the past four days is the same. The worst about the whole thing was that she doesn't know why they are chasing her; all Kelly knew is that they are looking for something that she has and they are going to kill her.
"Hey, watch where you going!?" A woman shouted at her. She ignored her. Turning to another street with heavy breathing, she rummaged through her bag as she runs at the sidewalk. "Here you go." She pulled out a scissor and holds it as if it was a knife. It can obviously not save her but that's the only sharp thing that she had at the moment. Desperate moment calls for desperate measures, well, in her case, desperate killing instrument.
She had a tight grip of the scissor as she searched through the crowd. She's looking for a familiar scary face. Relieve, she let out the deep breathe she'd been holding since she jumped from that window.
She's trying to steady her breathing when her phone rang loudly in her pocket. She yelped, catching the attention of the people passing by. She looked at the caller I.D. It was an unknown number. She was hesitant to take it, thinking that it may be installed to some wireless crap that will track her. But the other side of her also thinks that she should answer it.
She crossed her fingers as she took the phone call. "I don'tknowwhatyou'relooking for." She said. "Please, I don't know anything. I don't even know you guys. I just wanna go home and have a nice shower." She leaned beside a post and slouched. "I'm tired of running."
"I can see that." The voice said from the other line.
"Thank you-wait-did you have cameras?" she tensed again. She looked around curiously. "Where are you?" she's not expecting an answer but the guy told her.
"The guy across the street," the voice said. Kelly quickly turned to the direction. But there were so many people across. "The one with the blue jacket and a black bull cap."
Kelly looked from left to right and finally, a guy staring at her wearing a blue jacket and a black bull cap. He gave her a quick and casual wave as she looked straight at him. Seeing his face, she tensed instantly and her muscle tightened. He's new to her sight right now. For the past four days, she was usually chased by scary and freaky men, not a guy on his early twenties. But she's ready to run or to swing the scissor into the guy when things turned crap.
"Don't move." The guy said. Kelly ended the call and shoved her phone back into her pocket.
"Who are you?" she asked. But the guy did not answer her question. Instead, he gave her the same cap he's wearing and forced her to wear it. He grabbed her on the wrist and dragged her, not knowing where they headed. "Hey, hey, hey, get off me!" she tried to loosen the guy's grip but he was too strong for her.
"You're hurting me." She said. "Get your hands off me or I'll hurt you!"
The guy stayed silent.
"Well, this is what you want." She held the scissor and stabbed the guy's hand. But before the tip of the scissor could touch the skin of the stranger, he caught Kelly's hand and threw the scissor away from her. Her eyes widen on his quick reflexes. And at the same time, amused and scared.
"You listen to me." The stranger stopped. "You follow everything I said or else you're gonna die before you could reach your aunt."
That, shut her up.
