"Sweet Dreams." I said right before I beheaded this annoying girl that had a reputation for picking on other girls and taking things from others. This disgusted me, I used to be tormented by girls like her. Denzel took another prize for himself to eat later. I looked around the small town that I used to call home, Johnstown. I pretty much hated the place now. I decided to head back to my so-called home and try to get some sleep, I felt finished with the killing for the night. I walked down the empty street knowing that everyone was either asleep or they were out on the other side of town. I put my earbuds in and listened to some new songs that I added to my iPod recently. I was listening to the song 'Broken Generation' by Of Mice and Men with Denzel at my heal. I tucked my scythe back into the strap on my shoulder; I also put my Bowie knife back into its sheath.
Looking back at the bodies, I knew that someone would find them in the morning. I didn't bother me however, they never found me. The song then changed on my iPod to 'Prayer to the Refugee' by Rise Against. I nodded my head slowly to the music as i continued to walk down the road into the treeline. I thought I saw a shadow out the corner of my eye and turned around. I must have been seeing things because I saw nothing. Denzel looked behind us and sniffed the air, he then stared at this one corner where there was no light. I could see into the darkness, but barely. I waited to see if anything moved, but nothing did. I decided to go since I wanted to get away from this damned town.
I patted Denzel's head to snap him out of his trance that he was in. I looked behind me as we were walking to take one last glance.
'Who or what was back there?' I thought to myself. I ignored the feeling in the back of my mind. I put my ear buds back in so I could listen to music as we walked away. I was listening to 'Failure' by Breaking Benjamin. I walked past the trees until I reached the familiar hill and walked up to the other side. I could smell the rust as it stayed close to the ground. I walked past the concrete walls that surrounded my safe haven. I walked into a large hole in one of the walls and found the one corner that had blankets and tarps on it to keep me warm. Denzel lied down right next to me as I turned off my iPod. I got this strange feeling that the same thing that saw me and Denzel in town followed us back to the construction site. I kept my eyes open a little while longer before finally drifting off to sleep, still wondering who it was that followed us home.
