"That's not possible! We're not soulmates."
You don't care for him?
"Of course I care for him! Soulmates live to love and support eachother. But he obviously doesn't care enough about me so we are not soulmates. And I refuse to be in a one-sided love relationship!"
You mean selfish relationship?
"I don't need your snide comments Mikah." I sighed and gazed around the city from the top of the Christian church. "Anyway there is a gypsy camp that I need to visit. What do you say to that?"
I'd ask if I had a choice? And I'd also say to be cautious your reputation is of the upmost importance.
I rolled my eyes, "Relax, I bought costumes today remember? Why do people think I'm stupid?" I had on my leather pants, a black tank top, and a leather jacket that fit to my body like a second skin and it pained me to have to take it off so I decided to change later.
Well...
"If you answer that I swear I will introduce you as my pet squirell." I walked to the edge of the roof and spotted the lights coming from the merry camp. "Oh Mikah, look at it! Isn't it beautiful if I was born normal and in this century I would be a gypsy." I glanced at him and he too was caught up in the beauty.
But wouldn't you miss your heritage? Isn't it an honor to be a magic user?
I frowned, "Have you seen my magic abilities? They're poor at best." I turned away from him in embarassment and spotted a ragamuffin gypsy boy scurry away from camp to the fountain in the courtyard. I smiled and observed him closer, he had a lock of hair obscuring his face, looked to be about eighteen, and had a lean but lithe body. Perfect for escaping the men who were stalking him.
"Mikah!" I whispered excitedly, "He is going to be our ticket getting in! We just need to save him!" I grabbed him and silently jumped off the roof and landed in a whisper. I let go of Mikah and covered my nose at the stench of piss in the alleyway. I peeked around the corner and a wind scattered the stench away, as it cleared I caught a new smell and hissed in surprise at the malice that clung to it. Damn. I made my way there faster all the while smelling the air. I was getting closer, the next wall I came to I flattened myself against it and slowly peered around it. There they were. They had the little boy in a headlock and as I looked, sliced from his shoulder blades to his hip in a curve with the wicked blade they carried. I came out and slowly made my way behind the four men surrounding him and faked a sob.
They turned to look at me in fear but seen that it was only me and the look of malice was back. I shivered slightly but straightened my spine and stepped closer. They spoke in Rom, a language I was all too familiar with. "Come here pretty lady. Do you know what we are going to do to you?"
I widened my eyes in an effort to make them think that I was frightened enough to piss myself. The butt-ugly one, well they were all ugly, smiled. Holy shit! That was some NASTY teeth, decayed and brown to the roots. I turned away to keep the bile from coming out of my mouth. My eyes met the ragamuffin and I frowned. The gash was slightly already healing, my brows furrowed. I looked back into his scared pleading eyes and knew that no one could see this happening.
So, I walked closer to the men and flashed my teeth, knowing that they weren't coming out of this alive. They blanched at the sight of my fangs, "Well, look what I got here. A tasty treat. Who wants to go first?"
