"Stop dreaming, Cassie," said Cynthia.
Cassie was still staring at the wall. Cynthia sighed.
"Hello?" She said, "Anybody home?"
Startled, Cassie turned her head to Cynthia.
"Oh, sorry," she said, "I was a bit distracted."
"Yeah," Cynthia said, "You were. What do you think about anyway?"
"Well," said Cassie, "Lots of things really... Lots of imaginative things."
Cynthia didn't quite understand. "Like what?" She asked.
Cassie laughed. "Anything!" She replied, "How about I give you an example?"
Cynthia didn't want an example, but she went along with it anyway. She looked around to make sure no one was watching - Cynthia was the type of person who liked staying further up on the popularity scale.
"Close your eyes." Said Cassie. Cynthia looked at her as if she was silly.
"...Right here?" She asked, obviously feeling a bit awkward, "In the library?"
Cassie sighed. "Yes, here! Just do it, okay?"
Cynthia gave in. "Fine," she said, "But only for a minute, okay? I still have some work I need to do."
Cassie laughed to herself. Cynthia? Work? She can't even stand it when she chips a nail - As if she has any work to get back to.
"Okay," said Cassie, "Close your eyes. Imagine you're in another place... Somewhere far, far, away..."
A Few Moments Later...
"Excuse me," asked Cynthia, "But could you please tell me where on earth we are?"
Cassie laughed. "Cynthia!" She said, "We're not on earth, remember? We're in another place, somewhere far, far, away!"
Cynthia looked around. There were rainbows everywhere, and lots and lots of pink things. There were poodles, and nail polish, and heaps more. Everything that Cynthia liked was there - Including celebrities! "Wow," Cynthia said, "This is amazing!"
Cassie smiled. "I know," she said, "But this is your place, not mine."
Cynthia looked at her, "What do you mean?" She asked.
Cassie pointed to a door. "See that door over there? That is the door you go through when you come back to earth. Right now, I'm going to exit through that door. You come back when you're ready." As Cassie walked out the door, Cynthia smelt the sweet scent of all the roses around her. She could nearly taste sweet, strawberry milkshakes...
A lady walked up to her. "Excuse me, dear," she said, sweetly, "Would you like one of the roses?"
Cynthia looked at the lady. "Um, sure!" She said.
The lady smiled, and handed her one bright pink rose.
"Thank you." Cynthia said, nicely. Then she looked at the time. 3 o'clock! School will be finished! She had to go back to earth as soon as possible before she misses her bus! Cynthia took off, and, without noticing, she accidentally dropped her rose.
Another Few Moments Later...
"Cynthia, wake up!" Said Cassie.
Startled, Cynthia woke up.
"Do you see what I mean?" Cassie asked.
"Yes!" Said Cynthia, "But I forgot my rose! And I don't have time to go back and get it! I'll miss my bus!"
Cassie was confused. "What rose?" She asked.
Cynthia was obviously in a hurry to catch her bus. "Never mind," she said, "See you tomorrow."
Waiting at her bus stop was a lady who looked vaguely familiar. The lady kept on looking at Cynthia, and sat down next to her. "I'm sorry," said Cynthia, "Do I know you?"
The lady looked around, and pulled out a bright pink rose from inside her jacket, the one Cynthia lost in her daydream!
"You forgot something." The lady said. Then she winked at Cynthia.
Cynthia looked down at the rose, and smelt it.
Mhm... she thought, strawberry milkshakes...
When she looked back up to thank the lady, she had vanished.
