A Day At School

Since it was late November, I'd be graduating in just a few months. I knew that I'd have to get good grades and good participation, never the less, great attendance.

Ever since I was 8 years old, my mom had forced me to get good attendance. My school's limit of missing days was four, so I'd soon have to get back to school or else I'll ruin my attendance.

"Where are you going? You can't just leave." Gabriel grabbed my hand as I was just about to walk out of the bedroom. He was in his pajamas and I was in a red blouse and black leggings.

"I have school, ya know." I told him. "I'm eighteen and you're nineteen."

"I know, but--"

"Gabriel, I have school."

He sighed. "You're right. Go on."

"Thank you." I smiled and kissed his cheek. He smiled.

"Have a good day?" He suggested as he held my face in his hands and smiled.

"You too." I told him and opened the bedroom door, walking down the stairs. I saw the time--6:30 am. I'd have to get to school quick.

I guess I was thinking out loud because Evelyn soon replied, "Do you need a ride?"

I smiled to see Evelyn in a maid uniform, staring at me. "Yeah, thank you."

"It's no problem, really." She smiled back and picked up her keys. "Let's get you there quick."

Evelyn had dropped me off at school at 7:04 a.m. and I praised Lord for that. She told me to call her if I needed a ride home, which I doubted, but I thanked her anyways.

In class, I had missed a lot. A few girls got into fights, they had a school meeting about drugs, two school projects and the school was planning a dance, soon.

"Hey!" Kat grabbed my shoulder.

"Hey," I replied and blushed a little. "Need something?"

"No, just wanted to say hey before you go play tag-along with Gabe."

"Tag-along?" I asked. "I'm his--" I stopped myself. What was I to him? I had no right to call him my boyfriend.

"See?" Kat laughed.

"Stop it," I blushed.

"You guys are just playing friends with benefits, aren't you?"

"No." I said although I wasn't sure. I felt my fingers fiddling with each other, so I pulled my hands away from each other and started to walk away. My cheeks had started to burn and my eyes began to sting. I wasn't even together with Gabe and I gave my virginity to him. What was I to him? More than his product?

"Ginny!" Kat called. I kept on walking. I didn't want to stop. What's wrong with me? I fell for him and I didn't realize that he doesn't even probably like me.

I went to my locker and opened it up, taking out my backpack and phone and my back-up charger. Kat got closer and finally grabbed my arm. "What's wrong?"

"Shut up!" I hissed and closed my eyes to keep the tears in. I turned away as I slammed my locker shut and went to my next class, having difficulty to keep the tears in.

After school was over, Gabriel had called me and asked if I wanted a ride home. I accepted his offer, no matter how bad my feelings were being hurt to even just hear his voice.

"Ginny," Gabriel's voice called. He was standing out of his car, walking towards me with a smile. "Over here."

I looked at him and smiled. I kept the feelings in as he came up to me and hugged me. "How was your day?"

"It was good." I replied and hugged him back.

"Are you okay? You look tired." Gabriel pulled away and looked into my eyes. I looked up into his and nodded.

"I'm okay."

"You're lying to me." Gabriel grit his teeth and then pulled away. "Get in the car."

I did as he said and I started to cry more, letting the tears fall this time. I could tell Gabriel wouldn't keep the grudge, but he did a little. When we got into the car I sat in the passenger seat and looked out the window while I put my seatbelt on.

"Just tell me what's wrong." Gabriel ordered me as he held the wheel tightly. "Tell me."

"No," I whimpered.

Gabriel looked over at me with his brown eyes even darker than usual. "Tell me, Ginny."

I started to cry now and looked away as we drove away from school and Gabriel yelled at me to tell him what was wrong.

Thing is, I didn't know what was.
