(My P.O.V.)

I walk around the blacktop. Recess has just begun. I see my friend Roo. He looks sad, so I walk up to him.

"Hey Root Beers!" (That's my nickname for him.) "What's up?" I yell as I approach him.

"What?" He asks, shaking awake from his daydream.

"Why so sad?" I reply, again asking what's wrong.

"Nothing." He avoids answering.

"C'mon. Tell me. I wanna know." I urge. I can really see that something is wrong. He's not making his normal witty remarks or dirty jokes.

"There's gonna be a fight." He says quietly. I'm shocked by the answer. I'm not surprised that there's going to be a fight, I'm just surprised that he knows.

"Really? Between who?" I'm curious to find out.

"Me and you." He says sadly, obviously not bothering to correct the sentence to 'you and I'.

"Wh-... n-no there's not." I reply, quite confused.

"Yes there is."

"And how do you figure that?"

"Everyone I talk to, I end up hurting." He's getting a little pissed off now.

"Really?" I ask, kinda paranoid.

"Yes. I talked to Gavin, I punched his face. I talked to Sam, I kicked his nuts. I talked to Adam, I punched his stomach. I talked to Tiernon, I punched his chest." He lists all the injuries he's made.

"But they're all boys, that makes sense." I argue.

"It'll be no different with you if you keep talking to me!" He yells, drawing quite a bit of attention towards us.

"I won't let that happen! You're only bringing this on yourself!" I scream. My brain isn't working. My mouth is spilling out words, and my body is moving, but on its own.

My feet lunge me foward into Roo, and my arms swing around him, catching him in a tight embrace.

His arms are now around me and neither of us say a word. This feels nice.

Ugh. This is the worst day ever. I keep hurting all my friends. What's wrong with me? Now it's recess. There's so many people. I don't want to hurt anybody else.

"Hey Root Beers. What's up?" I hear Jasmine call. Oh no.

"What?" I wake up from my daydream. Why did she have to come over here?

"Why so sad?" I hear her ask again. Why is she asking? Does she really care?

"Nothing." I just want her to go away.

"C'mon. Tell me. I wanna know." She keeps urging me. Maybe if I tell her, she'll go away.

"There's gonna be a fight." Why did I just say that?! I just sealed my fate! I'm so stupid!

"Really? Between who?" Why does she keep asking? Does she want this to happen?

"Me and you." Ahhhh! I need to stop talking!

"Wh-... n-no there's not." She starts to stutter. She sounds really confused.

"Yes there is."

"And how do you figure that?"

"Everyone I talk to, I end up hurting." I'm starting to get a little pissed off.

"Really?" She sounds a little paranoid.

"Yes. I talked to Gavin, I punched his face. I talked to Sam, I kicked his nuts. I talked to Adam, I punched his stomach. I talked to Tiernon, I punched his chest." I list all the injuries I've made.

"But they're all boys, that makes sense." She's saying this like it'll be different with a girl.

"It'll be no different with you if you keep talking to me!" Now I'm yelling. I'm starting to draw quite a bit of attention towards us.

"I won't let that happen! You're only bringing this on yourself!" She's yelling back like she doesn't care who stares.

I feel a body slam into me, and arms wrapping around me, holding me in a tight embrace.

I put my arms around her, neither of us say a word. This feels nice.
