CHAPTER 1 : Music to the beat

I was at home watching a scary movie when the doorbell rang. I got up from the couch to open the door and find my parents come home from their busy day at work. You see, my parents were lawyers and they were always busy at work. So, I grew up looking after myself. That's how I'm good at learning new stuff.

"We're having pizza tonight", said Mom who was too exhausted to cook dinner.

Mom was a hardworking lawyer in Los Angeles. Did I mention that's where I live? It's a glam life here. Mom was well-known for winning her cases. Her clients say that she is the best. I couldn't blame my parents for loving their jobs! Anyways, she is also the best cook who has ever lived.

"Fine with me. Pizza's good", I said as I dialed to call pizza delivery.

We were having dinner when my phone rang. It was a rule in the house that no phone is allowed during meals. My dad is pretty strict on rules. So I had to ignore the call. It must have been my bestie Katie.

After dinner, I went upstairs to my bedroom to check the missed call. It was indeed my best friend. She was the popular cheerleader girl at school. But she isn't the snobbish mean chic you see in movies. She always sees the positives of every situation. She even volunteers to help at the animal shelter. I met at kindergarten and soon became best of friends.i
I proceeded to call her back. Ring..Ring...Ring. She finally picked up the phone.

"Hello Kat, what's up?",I said
"Hey Ruby, guess what Taylor Swift's new album is out", replied Katie.
"For real? You must not be joking"

We were big fans of Taylor Swift.( fan girl moment). No, actually we were big fans of music in general. We loved the bands called Imagine Dragons and One Republic. Man, I really wish that I could play instruments like a pro. Though, I have to say I rather pride myself in singing(shh..nobody knows this)

"If you don't believe me just check out the iTunes Store"
"Yaaaaaaaay...... I've been waiting for this my whole life"
"Geez Red..... calm down!"( Yup, she calls me that when I get mad)
"Okay. I'm buying this album right now"
"Fine. Come back to me when you are done"

I put the call on hold and went to the iTunes Store. I was extremely excited when I saw Taylor's new album 1989. I purchased it and meanwhile as the songs were downloading, I resumed to talk with Katie.

"So what's the new trend on YouTube?" I asked Katie.
"Well, the Kylie Jenner lip challenge was the wild craze all over the Internet. I'm quite glad it ended right now"
" That was really a CRAZY trend."
"Anyways, did you finish homework?"

Now. You might think that we're the geeks. But not to brag much, we're not as geeky as you think. We were just the average teenagers you see. But I would never join the mean girls in my life ever, even if it means getting popular.

"I just can't wait to tell you about the boy I met in Math class"
"Can't it wait Kat, I'm getting sleepy now"
"Okay then. Goodnight, don't let the bedbugs bite"
"I'll see you tomorrow." " Goodnight. Sleep tight"

I put my phone down. I brushed my teeth and changed into my pyjamas. Then I settled down on my bed to play the new Taylor Swift music album. I always play some music before going to bed.

There's something about music which soothes your nerves. It changes your emotion in a fraction of a second by just listening to it. It puts a smile on your face when you're sad. It calms you down when you're angry and makes you even happier if you are having a good day. Music is everywhere. Nature has its own music. We just enhance it with different beats and pitches. Of course, we have our own tastes.

Taylor Swift treats music as an art. I mean I'm not such a big fangirl. I just admire her music. Her album 1989 is awesome. I especially liked Blank Space. As I listened to the music, I couldn't but help wonder happy thoughts. Music flowed through my veins and I felt my eyes drooping. As I closed my eyes, I wandered into oblivion of darkness.

When I woke up responding to my biological clock, I found myself lying on a patch of green grass rather than my soft bed. Panicking, I assured myself that it was just a dream. I pinched myself to ensure that I still lived in the real world. I seemed to have teletransported in my sleep. But how? This was impossible. I got up from the ground to discover a tall, magnificent building stand before me. It's tall doors opened and I found a man around his fifties climbing down the steps and coming toward me.
" Welcome to Amber Academy, Miss Garnet"

So guys this is my first book writing. Actually, this is a new experience. I think I'll keep the story short and to the point. So to say if I'm a Taylor Swift fan or not? Well, I'm not such a fangirl. But, I ABSOLUTELY adore Imagine Dragons and One Republic. Also in the story, I know 1989 is not the latest, but is one of the most popular. And about the Kylie Jenner thing, it was the only thing I could think of!

Can't say I'm not excited about this story. Not many people read my stories. I hope you guys like it! And I'd recommend you guys to tell your friends about this. And guys, please state your honest opinions :D
